  • Prints AMAZINGLY SMOOTH! Glow? I’m in-between about the glow
Color: Rainbow-5m Size: Glow PLA
The media could not be loaded. This review is for the Multi-Color Glow in the dark (5m color change) PLA filament..... I will talk about the glow–affect as well, but 1st... Most importantly, this stuff prints amazingly smooth! I did not have to tweak my settings, AT ALL! I have a guider2 printer and use a .4mm micro swiss plated wear resistant nozzle. I used the hottest suggested setting, 220°C, as I’ve noticed in my personal experience that glow in the dark filament tends to like to be printed a little hotter. The heated bed was set to 50°C. I did not use a raft, however I always use a brim to help Adhesion. I also always use a glue stick. Cooling fan on 100% and 100% of the Print. I changed my shell count to 4, Top solid layer 4, bottom solid layers 4. The following are all the STANDARD PLA print slicer settings that my flash forge slicer auto recommends when you select PLA for the material. I’m only including it in case someone with another slicer has a different profile set up: -15% infill with a hexagon pattern -Base print speed 60mm/s -travel speed 80mm/s -first few layers max speed 30mm/s -again, fan always ON at 100% speed Now as for THE GLOW.... i’m not sure how I feel about the glow effect. I’ve included pictures of what the glow initially looks like after one hour of charging under a UV light. It’s rather bright. However, my iPhone camera picks up more of the actual color than you can actually see in real live viewing. Maybe it’s the brightness of the glow tends to make the color blend together? No, because the dimmer the glow effect got as it released the charge, I saw the same dull “actual colors”. Although you CAN see a difference in color, it is a very muted difference (The colors are not bold or vibrantly colored at all)...... The other thing I’m torn on, is the timing of the glow itself. As you can see in the first picture, as soon as I removed it from its light source, (regardless of the muted color issue) it was very bright! However, as you’ll see in the second picture (because I took a screenshot of the picture itself so it would include the time-stamp of when I took each picture... look on the very top of each pic) that “very bright glow” VERY QUICKLY (6 minutes later) faded into almost one color. A very dim one color at that. Again another six minutes later, the camera would not even pick up any color-glow at all. HOWEVER! I could still very clearly see a dim glowing green in real life viewing. And that green glow was actually STILL THERE in the morning when I woke up! Which was actually quite impressive! So I guess my take away from the entirety of this filament is (and this is only if this is exactly how this filament is intended to print and GLOW... not just a bad GLOW Batch): I 100% love how this stuff prints! It does in fact have different colors, but they are not very distinctive and do NOT last long when glowing. And again, I was 100% impressed at how LONG the GREEN-GLOW ended up actually glowing for! If the colors were more vibrant as advertised, I would’ve given this review 5⭐️Stars. ... show more

  • Quality control?
Color: Transparent Yellow Green Red Size: Transparent PLA
Just opened my spool of clear red green yellow pla and didn't notice anything was wrong until I keep hearing a thump and a failed print. Turns out the spool was assembled crooked. As it was feeding it would jerk and cause layer shifts and failed print. Not sure how it made it out of the factory like that. Contacted company directly and even with clear pictures of a damaged spool that was crooked they placed the blame on my printer and myself. Will not buy anything from them again. Get your money and your done with them. Worst customer service so far. Addendum: After talking with the company and explaining everything they are going to send me another replacement roll with apologies. Quick response and satisfactory end. ... show more

  • Prints nice
Color: Shiny Black and Red Size: Galaxy PLA
This item prints nicely but I am a bit disappointed it does not print as the image in the listing shows. I have printed one item so far and it is not red and black. it is only red. the colors are not woven together to get the red and black look. Looking at the spool it the colors are separate and it's not even up to the black yet. ... show more

  • What a GLOW!
Color: Glow-blue Size: 1KG
Before we get started let's just get my setup out of the way so you know where I'm coming from. Ender 3 (not pro) SKR Mini E3 v1.2 Flexible Magnetic Build Plate (Creality Official) BMG Clone Extruder Cura Slicer with CHEP 4.7.X(Good) 0.2mm Profile. Alright so let's get into the meat of this review. When it comes to my printer I always wanted to try glow in the dark filament but was always worried that it wouldn't look good. Plain and simple, I'm glad I was wrong. Main thing to say is the glow works MUCH better when exposed to sunlight. I think it's the UV rays that is causing it to soak up so much energy so one day I want to try this with a black light. Temperature: I couldn't find a "best" temperature for it, everything from 180-210 or so seemed to look great which is a good thing. Means you don't have to worry about things looking weird and don't really just have to look for anything when it comes to the temperature. Just set it to 200c for the nozzle and 60c for the bed and you're good to go. Color: If you think you're getting a blue filament that glows blue don't. It's white under normal light but you get it in the dark and it glows a mighty blue. Just look at the pictures I posted. There are no filters. Just left them out in the sun for a few minutes, took them in a completely dark room, and took a picture. I really didn't expect the glow to be so bright honestly. It was a very pleasant surprise. I need to find some outdoor applications to use this in so that dusk looks even cooler outside my house. The white itself looks good and is even a little transparent. It could make a good surprise if you were to give a gift to someone who likes blue and they think you gave them a white item only for it to glow blue in the future. Adhesion: I'm starting to think the cheap filament I had before was what was causing them not to adhere to my bed but the 3 most recent filament's I have gotten have stuck well, though it may also be the new springs I got too. Layers stuck well to each other as well as to the bed. No layer shifting from anything and it didn't pop off mid print to ruin everything. No complaints when it comes to this category. Packaging: Came in a normal box with the flip open tab for easy storage as well as a sealed metallic zipper bag. Filled it with air and gave it a press to see if any air was leaking out and it wasn't so I went ahead and placed a few extra desiccant packs in there because I want to make sure this filament stays good till I use it all. I like the spindle itself. I don't know if AMOLEN's other filament's come on clear spindles as well or if this is it because the filament is a little translucent. Overall: I have 0 complaints and just can't stop raving about this. I'm hoping one day they have a glow in the dark purple and once they do I'm buying immediately. Next I hope I can get my hands on the shiny glow green (looks like it has chunks of EXTRA glowy pieces in it) and the color change ones one day. Cheers! ... show more

  • One of my Favorites
Color: Starry Sky Green Size: Glow PLA
I've been printing with Amolen since I started 3D printing. Its one of my favorite brands. Dark Starr Night just continues that love. I've used several brands of this kind of filament before and Amolen's has been the best. Better glow, better density, and less clogging. Outside some clogs which were more settings related over filament issues, every print has been perfect. Amolen is pricey but its worth the price for quality. ... show more
