  • Excellent First Printer
Color: Red
The Qidi X-Maker is an excellent printer for 3D printing noobs like me. I didn't want something that I had to assemble for fear that I wouldn't do it quite right, and the Qidi comes very well packaged and is fully assembled. Compared to most other 3D printers, which are quite plain looking, the X-Maker is also quite an attractive printer with it's metallic red housing. Of course looks don't matter if the printer doesn't perform, and the Qidi prints very well. I especially like the magnetic print bed which helps tremendously in prints sticking to the bed properly, and makes removing prints from the bed amazingly easy. I did a ton of research on 3D printing so I'd be as prepared as possible for any printing problems and types of adjustments I'd need to make, and like all 3D printers you need to be prepared to tweak your levelling and print setting every time you change filament. While that has been my biggest frustration in getting accustomed to how to print well, from the many YouTube videos I've watched on other printers, it is just part of the hobby. You are, after all, creating custom objects from what amounts to silly string. :) I've had my X-Maker for 2 months as of the writing of this review, and in that time I've printed over 100 hours as I'm working on an "escape room in a case project" with a lot of 3D printed components. Last week the X-Maker stopped moving in the Z-axis, so I contacted Qidi support in China who got back to me in just a few hours. They sent me some videos of steps to perform to diagnose the issue, and within a couple of days determined I needed a new motherboard, which they sent me free of charge. It arrived in under a week, and they provided a video with instructions on how to swap it out, which was quite easily done. I'm back to printing now and cannot say enough good things about they competence and speed at which Qidi support helped resolve this issue - and from all the way across the world. I've printed with PLA, PLA+, and TPU, and Qidi also claims that ABS is possible although I haven't tried it yet. From the performance of the printer so far, I have no doubt it can handle it with easy. My only "gripe", and it is a minor quibble, is that the print area is comparatively small - the largest object you can print is about 6x6x6 inches, which I think if fine for most users. If you're looking for your first 3D printer, I truly believe that the Qidi X-Maker is one of the best choices you can make. ... show more

  • Hatchbox is my new go to
Color: White
Great filament! Prints smoothly with no clogging or weird inconsistencies. The white has a nice, clean finish, and layers come out looking sharp. Sticks well to the bed without warping, and I haven’t had any issues with brittleness. Definitely one of the more reliable PLAs I’ve used, will be buying again! ... show more

  • Hatchbox is the gold standard for mid-range Filament
Color: Cool Gray
I have been 3D printing for 5 years and owned a QIDI, Prusa and Reality. By far the Prusa is the best and it works well with almost all filaments. But when you get into the QIDI, it is far less forgiving with all types of PLA. However, the Hatchbox brand is very steady with "draft" printers like QIDI. Consistent prints and no strings or pimples. When you use the Hatchbox in the higher end printer (Prusa) the bottom of the print is smooth and tight and when using supports it seems easier to remove. Aslo, Hatchbox has added many new colors ... show more

Color: Iron Red
If you're a 3D printing enthusiast, HATCHBOX Iron Red PLA is a game-changer. The color is a stunning, deep red that really pops in finished prints, giving them a professional, polished look. The filament feeds smoothly without clogging, and its consistency ensures reliable results every time. It’s also easy to work with, adhering well to the print bed and showing minimal warping. The 1 KG spool offers great value, providing plenty of material for larger projects. Overall, HATCHBOX delivers high-quality PLA that enhances both the appearance and durability of your prints. • Solid Quality
Color: Gold
Filament is wound nicely and prints really clean. No stringing, clogging, or tangles. Good bed adhesion during print, easily removed when it was cooled down. I would buy again. The only con for me is that the filament roll does not fit on the Bambu Labs A1 AMS lite. This can be fixed by printing an adapter from MakerWorld, so it didn’t stop me from printing what I wanted. I was just annoyed that I had to print the adapter first- and I’m impatient and just wanted to get to my project. ... show more

  • Great filament for 3D printing Noob.
Color: Blue
So far I LOVE this filament and will probably be being more from this brand. I am completely new to 3D printing and aside from the tiny spool that came with the Ender 3 I bought a few spools from Hatchbox based on the reviews and reputation. So far they do live up to the hype! Watched several videos on YouTube from CHEP in particular and Teaching Teach about printer assembly, calibration and profile configuration. After getting everything dialed in I am very happy with the results, ( wisps of stringing was my fault, damaged the nozzle so it will be replaced shortly. No stringing at all before that). The cat was printed with all stock parts, no upgrades or mods. I would highly recommend this filament to anyone new to 3D printing to minimize headaches associated with figuring out possible root causes. Did not have any problems with the filament sticking to the bed, warping or shrinking. When it did, it was because something was not properly set on the printer by me. The blue from the pic does not do it justice. It's actually a few shades darker. Material feels pretty sturdy but since PLA is not meant for long-term durability I will probably cover the parts with a clear acrylic since moisture is still the #1 enemy of PLA. With PLA though remember to keep it in an airtight container, particularly with a dissecant to keep moisture as low as possible. If you hear hissing or popping while printing this means the filament has absorbed moisture and while this can be fixed by drying in an oven but it's best to try to prevent this if you can. I highly recommend using this filament to anyone who is just getting into 3D printing. Like anything you are new at or have never used, make sure you do your research and do proper troubleshooting before blaming the product. ... show more
