The assembly was a marathon, but the instructions were pretty straightforward and easy to follow for the most part. Finished piece is very sturdy and beautiful. Nice piece of furniture that functions exactly as it should. The mattress does have to be purchased separately. It’s a good looking and very functional cabinet style Murphy bed. It’s free standing, so it’s great for renters. The price is reasonable but you do need to purchase the mattress separately. I did assemble it alone, but I’d recommend getting a helper. It took me about 12 hours total to complete. I’m very happy with the final product. Worst product ever. Horrible to assemble, particle board wood cracked and didn’t hold up. Will likely have to throw it away. The design is terrible and the roller shelf doors didn’t stay in place. I know this is a cheap, Amazon, Murphy bed. So for the price of the product, it isn't bad, but I also believe that for $600 you should be very satisfied with your purchase. We had a unique situation where we needed a cabniet for our Japanese futons and a Murphy bed was a more affordable option over a cabniet. We are also on a second floor so many hardwood cabniets (bought or thrifted) couldn't be carried or brought in. We needed something that could be carried in and constructed. Like most things nowadays, it is made out of a partical board with the printed wood design. This is not the company's fault but Amazon's delivery dropped off the packages in our yard near the road and not the porch. They had been rough with it which had damaged some boards. Bummer, since for $600, we expect a new product. This was found part way through the build and we were too frustrated to deconstruct and return it. The instructions had a few spots that were confusing or written badly but in general was fine. Fair warning, due to the specific nature of our need we bought this furniture for specific measurements. We thought them a bit confusing on the photo but saw that the bed was 81 inches which is what we needed... Its is not 81 inches. We found this out only after finishing construction. Upon closer inspection of the listing photo we saw that there were several other numbers that weren't adding up. We hope that they accidently made these mistakes. I'm really frustrated with this as we bought it specifically for that size, so I didn't bother measuring everything, but know that it fits a queen sized bed. We found this out only once finishing the build with took us hours even with 2 people. You will certainly need 2 people for several steps and to make things go quicker. We worked pretty quickly and it took us about 5 hours. We were testing it out over night and found it to feel pretty stable and I personally enjoy the semi-cubby-like headboard. We are having trouble with the sliding side cubby mechanics. I'm not sure if they were cut wrong or not but they don't slide unless I use both hands and wiggle the back end of the 'cabniet.' We are already finding the top folding mechanic to be rubbing and peeling the vynal parrical board cover. Unsurprisingly that is probably being caused by friction of the boards being too close and rubbing. To anyone who has bought these types of products before, they have predrilled holes which means that the hindges at that side had their holes drilled too close together. That also meant that we had several other hole issues that would cause the wood to bulge, but we didn't care as that particular board is not visible and still seemed stable. The cabniet in general looks nice for the price. And the storage is nicely efficient and spacous. You might have noticed that throughout this review I'm disappointed, but I'm unfortunately not surprised - actually, used to the quality and lack of care that modern companies have in delivery and creation of products. Again, it's a fine product but I'm not over the moon for it. I wish it was better for the price of $600+. *the ai on Amazon said that I think that the appearance, ease of use, fit, value for money, and size are all positive. Let me be clear that I only think that appearance and ease of use is solely positive. It won't let me change those tags. The rest.. Well I think you can guess what I think from the above review lol... Frustrated and Exasperated, but furniture like this is too hard for us to return.* Apologies about the bad photos, I'm not much of a photographer. I LOVE the final outcome, but the assembly is VERY time consuming. The instructions could use a little more detail. The bottom drawer requires tracks, and it was kind of unclear how to take them apart to make it work. The sliding doors on the side were also kind of hard to make work. Very nice piece once completed though. Looks amazing, not too big. Heavy so it stays put. Got a 6in mattress (separate) very comfy. Overall, would recommend. ... show more

So far so good. The instructions were very clear. It did take a little while but it wasn't hard. I did all myself with needing help just at one step. The wood has a bit of a plastic feel to it but I would say it's kind of like engineered wood flooring. It seems durable and looks good. The cavity for the mattress is 21 in deep so it fits a 6-in tri-fold mattress just fine. Unfortunately, I really have not been super fortunate to find a good 6-in mattress. One other build note is at some point you put little black pads on the drawers that you pull out that the bed platform rests on so that it doesn't damage the wood. The instructions are not very clear as to where to set those pads so I would recommend waiting to put those pads down until you are able to lay the bed platform down and see where your points are going to be. I actually bought some more of the pads augment it. It is solid and feels good to lay on! ... show more

Good quality, sturdy, modern style Murphy bed cabinet. We are very happy with this AMERLIFE Queen size Murphy bed cabinet. Looks great in our office. We like the modern fluted style and the natural wood color. It is substantial, has good weight to it, and it pretty easy to use. It’s shipped in two parts, and unfortunately the first box was damaged in shipping. Consequently, resulting with one piece inside with damage. We contacted AMERLIFE , and received immediate attention from them. They were very professional and helpful and sent a replacement for the damaged piece.
