  • Not easy to put together
Color: Natural
I love the result after putting it together and making quite a few adjustments with a drill and wood screws the screws that were provided did not fit into the holes pre-cut into the console. If you're not a do-it-yourselfer this is not the console for you. Other than that it works perfect

  • Not very sturdy
Color: Espresso
I have built countless items with cam locks etc. This piece did not hold together right after assembly. The price should have told me this was not great. The fireplace unit is good - like the look of it. I have tried the heater section a couple of times and it shuts off quickly when you are using heater. It was not tripping my breaker but the directions say it will shut off to control overheating. But I would get maybe 10 minutes out of it then it shut down. Would not be a reliable source of warmth. I would not buy it again - but in the long run I do still like the fireplace unit and can always insert that into something else. ... show more

  • Good for the price
Color: Espresso
The media could not be loaded. This is very pretty and minimalist design. I really like the fireplace and that it's 23" not 18" wide. I purchased it, as it was the best overall for the price. The heat is decent for my living room, it's equivalent to a good space heater. I enjoy the fireplace ambiance which is very nice. The fireplace does come with a remote control also. The heater fan is also quiet and has adjustable temperature. Overall I think for the price it's worth it but the quality of the partical board is not great. There are a couple places on the bottom of the feet where the veneer had peeled, and it was like that right out of the box, which is disappointing! Also the pieces are not finished on all sides. There are places you can see the unfinished sides where it comes together in the spaces although minimal. This is not very sturdy compared to other consoles I've owned. I believe this will scratch relatively easily and because of the quality of the wood and the way it's assembled it will not last a long time, especially if it has to be moved. I hired a professional to put it together and he was able to do it in an hour. He said the assembly is not standard how furniture is usually. He commented that the cam locks, cam bolts and quic locs aren't standard and he didn't like them as they expand in the wood and just overall this was a very fragile unit. Also I should say, this is an intermediate level of assembly which is why I didn't attempt it, and the instructions are pictures only. When it was completed we ended up taking the 2 center plastic feet support inserts underneath off because they made the console very wobbly. If your floor is not completely level this is what will happen. I'm not setting anything heavy on it so it should be fine. Also the cord for the fireplace is about 5-6 feet long, but because it comes out of the top right side, almost 2 feet of that is wasted inside the console unit. So unless your plug is directly behind the unit within about 3 feet, you will need an extension cord. This has to be a 14G, 1875W, 15Amp cord for fire hazard safety reasons and will run about $15 for a 6 foot one. I ended up purchasing an extension cord for an AC unit/appliances cord, which works well, as my nearest outlet was on the adjacent wall. For the price compared to others which are $100+ more, this is a pretty choice and I'm enjoying it. But I think the partical board quality and construction of how it assembles together was poorly done. I don't expect this to last many years which is disappointing. But I will enjoy it until the board deteriorates and then I expect eventually to put the fireplace insert into something else. But it's pretty and I'm not harsh on furniture and have no pets anymore so I'm hopeful it will last longer and surpass my expectations. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
Color: Espresso
The quality is HORRIBLE. Once built is not level and does not feel at all solid. The only nice thing about this is the fireplace. The fireplace did not fit inside the unit until some modifications were made. Tempted to return it and purchase a different one form another manufacturer. Not impressed with this one I am afraid ... show more

  • It's OK
Color: Espresso
My house is furnished almost entirely with furniture pieces that I've had to build, so I have a fair bit of experience with this type of furniture and stuff that you assemble at home.. stuff from dressers, bed frames, coffee tables, end tables, desks, etc. This one actually came pretty nicely packed comparing to some items I've gotten, lots of styrofoam pieces and such inside the box and everything nicely packaged, I was pretty amazed if I'm being honest. Then, once I started taking the pieces out, I noticed one of the outside-facing pieces had a big scratch across the front of it, which on an espresso colored item, the scratch reveals the white particle board underneath, so it is very noticeable and doesn't look nice. That is a bad first impression. And while the company does include paperwork directing you to call if you have any issues, after you get a big furniture item like this, who wants to call some 800# and deal with that, potentially waiting a while to get the part etc? Not me. So I found a marker that is used for "fixing" scratches on furniture.. that was espresso color.. and it did a decent enough job hiding the scratch that I was OK just leaving it at that. After fixing the scratch, I went through and did an inventory of every item in the box. All of the wood pieces were supposed to have a sticker on them with a letter, which corresponded to what was in the instructions. 2 of the pieces I got had no such sticker, so I had to go through the process of elimination by checking what I saw in the manual, checking what each thing I had with a sticker was, then seeing the 2 items I had with no sticker, and then visually checking the manual and figuring out what they were. That was a little disappointing, but it wasn't that difficult to do. The manual actually wasn't bad as far as directions and stuff go. The whole process, start to finish, took me about an hour or so. Most of the steps are quite simple, and this is far easier than assembling something with cabinet doors and stuff that you have to align etc. There's 2 steps in the manual where they recommend having a second person, and I would agree with that. I was able to do the first one with just me, but the second one would have been quite difficult. That step is where you have the entire stand on its side, pretty much completely assembled (minus the fireplace insert), and you have to attach the top to the rest of the unit... and there's about 15 things you have to line up all at once to do that, and some of the legs need to be held up on both sides of the unit while you're doing this, which means 2 hands isn't enough. Anyway when it's all said and done, I've got mixed feelings on it. I was pretty meticulous with following the directions and trying to make sure I did everything properly, but ended up with a couple of spots where, I think either the wood pieces I have had holes like a millimeter off, or maybe some of the pieces were slightly warped or something, but at the end of the day there were a couple spots where 2 pieces that should have fit tightly together didn't (and can't be fixed), so there's a couple places with little gaps inbetween things that actually are noticeable if you do a close inspection, but from a distance, or if you're a casual observer, you'd never notice. It actually looks quite nice from a casual glance. The fireplace thing is pretty nice. It does put out some decent heat and the fan isn't too loud, especially if you've got some kind of speakers or sound bar for your TV. The heat can only be felt directly if you're about 3-4 feet from the unit, even on the high setting. After that I think the fan doesn't blow it enough to make it go any further.. so it will warm up the room, but if you're sitting at a normal distance away, even on the highest setting you won't feel the heat directly. However, that is probably how a normal fireplace works too. I think this thing ultimately looks pretty nice, but reality is it's a little cheap, rough around the edges if you go inspecting it. I wouldn't think of this as some kind of nice furniture piece, but rather an inexpensive way to elevate a room just don't expect perfection and don't expect it to last a lifetime. ... show more
