My 7 year old Craftsman electric mower just shorted out the other day, so began my hunt for a new machine. I never considered gas. Our yard is pretty small and I don’t want to deal with the maintenance of a gas mower. I seriously considered the Ego battery powered mower, and I was ready to spend the $600 to go cordless, but then I really looked at reviews and thought about future costs, and I just couldn’t justify having to buy another $300-400 battery in a couple years. Plus the last thing the world really needs is more lithium batteries. So I decided to go corded electric again. I liked the look of this American Lawn Mower. I knew I wanted at least 13 AMP and a 19 inch deck. Here’s the pros and cons I found against my old 13 amp, 19 in Craftsman electric mower. Pros: -Very lightweight. Almost feels self propelled it’s so easy to push. -Powerful motor. Our lawn was VERY long after lots of rain and going into the heat of summer I was purposefully keeping it kind of long. It cut through our jungle mostly with ease. I had to take smaller passes and give it some time, but that was expected. -Cord management is much better than my old Craftsman. Never really felt in jeopardy of running over the cord. -The soft handle and push bar are comfortable to use. Much better than the plastic handles on my old Craftsman. Cons: -There’s 6 adjustable height settings and even the 6th highest setting isn’t THAT high. If you like to keep your lawn a little higher, this mower might not work for you. -The grass catcher bag is on the smaller side, but it attaches well and doesn’t shoot clippings out of the back like my old Craftsman did. -On the highest setting, it had trouble sucking up the clippings left over on the sidewalk which I found weird. I went back over all the cement on a lower setting and that worked. After one use, I gave this mower 5 stars. The pros outweighed the cons. I had my doubts upon unboxing to be honest. It felt a little cheap. But really once all put together it was solid and lightweight. The price is right. Zero emissions and no lithium batteries needed. Has a nice quiet hum to it when in use. We’ll see how it holds up. ... show more

Surprisingly this works great, super light but solid. Very quiet, easy to use. We have a large yard (100’ by 30’) and it doesn’t have issues. If the grass get super tall (6-8”) we do have to raise it up so the motor can handle the extra grass, then lower it to cut a 2nd time.

Mower works well when it does, but if you try to use it on grass more than a couple inches tall it starts to bog down and eventually the thermal cutoff trips and the motor quits working for a few seconds until it cools off.

I've had this thing a couple of months and it works pretty well. Seems a little underpowered. And I mean just a little. So far it's done a great job of mowing my lawn. So far I would say I would buy it again. But asked me in a year

I’ve used it twice now and it has never disappointed. The 13-Amp motor provides plenty of power to handle the grass without bogging down, and the 19-inch deck size offers a perfect balance between efficiency and maneuverability. It is lightweight, easy to start, and much quieter than a traditional gas mower, making the whole chore feel a lot less like a hassle. Style: 19-inch, 13-Amp Corded Electric Push Law...
This is NOT a workhorse of a machine. In fact, it has very little power and really bogs down quickly. If lawn is thick, you need to keep it at the highest level in order to make it through without it "growling" at you. It does not like to be in mulching mode. I had another brand of corded electric lawnmower and I LOVED it. It was a work-horse and could use it over most anything. When it finally died (after 5 years of serious use and in mulching mode at all times) I looked for another one, but found out that brand no longer makes a corded electric - I would have to go with a battery-use model. I do not want a battery-use mower, I would prefer to stay with a corded electric model. The design of this model has room for improvement - more room between the blade and the actual underneath of the mower. There is essentially no width between blade and bottom in order to allow for air flow or for grass cuttings. And the distance from the front of the machine to the blade does not allow you to get close up from the front when in a tight space. I also have to go over a section of mowed area more than one pass in order to get it to make a difference in the grass height. The video that I saw posted from a previous reviewer, you can see the repeated going over the same sections - even in speed up mode. I didn't catch it that well the first time through, but after getting the mower and seeing my own results I now understand the reason for the repeated going over the same section again and again. Very disappointed in this corded electric brand. I wish Greenworks would still have their corded electric mower. That was nice. The one positive I can say on this one is it is light and can be maneuvered with one had. It's definitely quieter than a gas powered mower. It could be ok for a small yard (perhaps 10x10) and one that is not thick, not a lot of growth, and definitely NO dampness (even light dew causes an issue). ... show more
