We bought this mower to use something eco-friendly. We are new to using an electric mower, but this little mower is pretty powerful. No problems at all. There are two things to adjust to: 1. Push the power button first and then hold down the bar on the mower handle to start it. Once engaged let go of the power button. 2. It was a new experience to manage an electric cord while mowing as this is not a battery charged mower. As such it is lighter. Make sure you buy a cord that matches the specs of the mower. We bought a 100 foot cord . Our yard had gotten a little longer than normal due to a series of rains. The mower handled it well and does not have the heavy weight I’ve experienced with most gas push mowers. On the more hefty areas I slowed my pace and titled the mower back a little. Every went well and there is adjustable heights for the mower. The price was right for exploring electric mowers as a back up to a traditional rotary mower. It’s nice to have an option that doesn’t require physical oomph but also doesn’t require oil, gas, and the like! ... show more

This review summarizes my experiences using the 19-inch American Lawn Mower over the past 3 months. I'm very happy/satisfied with this purchase. The lawn mower works well, has a sleek and stylish design, and was easily assembled. It cuts effortlessly through both thick grass and weeds on our nearly 4,000 sq ft lawn. It's easy to use, almost feels like I'm using a household vacuum cleaner. The rear bag attaches securely and fills up. We appreciate how this mower starts up immediately, spinning at high speed. In contrast, our previous electric mower (with an induction motor) took time to reach full speed. It's also a convenience, and a nice touch, having one lever set the mowing height. On another prior mower, it was irritating to need to set each wheel's height individually and then have to frequently reset it, when it slipped out of place. I like this American Lawn Mower so much that, I'm planning to purchase a second one for backup, especially if it goes on sale after the mowing season. ... show more

I should have listened to the other reviews on this before buying,I'm gonna start off by saying I love how this looks and sounds, It sounds more like a Vacuum cleaner to me then a lawnmower. But that's the only Plus things about it. I cut my front and backyard with this and it shut off on me a total of 5 times. Having to wait a few minutes each time for it to run again. A few reviewers said this is under powered and they were right. One user said you will regret buying this and want to return it he was right too, Unfortunately I loved the way it looked so much I threw away the box,smh. My previous lawnmower was only 10amps compared to 13 amps on this one and I never had that problem ... show more

My 7 year old Craftsman electric mower just shorted out the other day, so began my hunt for a new machine. I never considered gas. Our yard is pretty small and I don’t want to deal with the maintenance of a gas mower. I seriously considered the Ego battery powered mower, and I was ready to spend the $600 to go cordless, but then I really looked at reviews and thought about future costs, and I just couldn’t justify having to buy another $300-400 battery in a couple years. Plus the last thing the world really needs is more lithium batteries. So I decided to go corded electric again. I liked the look of this American Lawn Mower. I knew I wanted at least 13 AMP and a 19 inch deck. Here’s the pros and cons I found against my old 13 amp, 19 in Craftsman electric mower. Pros: -Very lightweight. Almost feels self propelled it’s so easy to push. -Powerful motor. Our lawn was VERY long after lots of rain and going into the heat of summer I was purposefully keeping it kind of long. It cut through our jungle mostly with ease. I had to take smaller passes and give it some time, but that was expected. -Cord management is much better than my old Craftsman. Never really felt in jeopardy of running over the cord. -The soft handle and push bar are comfortable to use. Much better than the plastic handles on my old Craftsman. Cons: -There’s 6 adjustable height settings and even the 6th highest setting isn’t THAT high. If you like to keep your lawn a little higher, this mower might not work for you. -The grass catcher bag is on the smaller side, but it attaches well and doesn’t shoot clippings out of the back like my old Craftsman did. -On the highest setting, it had trouble sucking up the clippings left over on the sidewalk which I found weird. I went back over all the cement on a lower setting and that worked. After one use, I gave this mower 5 stars. The pros outweighed the cons. I had my doubts upon unboxing to be honest. It felt a little cheap. But really once all put together it was solid and lightweight. The price is right. Zero emissions and no lithium batteries needed. Has a nice quiet hum to it when in use. We’ll see how it holds up. ... show more
