  • Snap catcher on well
Size: 14" 5 Blade, Grass Catcher
This is the perfect mower for a grass that you can walk in under 20 minutes. If it is bigger than that I would recommend a wider one. The Mower is well built and comes out of the box really sharp. Assembly is under 10 min. The light weight makes it great for either my wife to use and she likes the blue color. We are recently retired and have taken to this as a sort of exercise routine. The leaf catcher works but you have to make sure it is well snaped on or it will fall off a lot. Also it throws grass to the left so works best if moving around the yard in a clockwise pattern ... show more

  • Great , sharp blades, easy assembly.
Size: 16" 7 Blade, Grass Catcher
Works great . It'll take some elbow grease the first time, if you're grass is already tall. Then every week , after that ,just stay on top of cutting the grass, and it'll be easier to maintain . It's not that quiet, imo, I was expecting quieter . I think I'll spray some oil, or I may try Evinrude engine tuner and spray the contact points to see if I can get it a little quieter. Blades are sharp , and cuts the grass very well. Edit: you have to adjust the four chrome flathead screws in the back and that moves the one long blade that sits in the back/bottom, . It'll move it far back enough to where the metal blades are no longer touching and it's completely quiet. I adjusted mine so they touch but not too much. And it is a lot quieter. I feel like having them not touching wasn't cutting the grass as nice. Maybe just personal opinion. ... show more

  • Surprisingly easy to use, even for a large lawn.
Size: 16" 5 Blade, Grass Catcher
I have a fairly large lawn on a half-acre lot and always thought I needed a gas or electric mower to deal with it. But after a couple of unsatisfactory experiments with battery-powered models and with the price of gasoline going up, I thought I'd give one of these a try. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it didn't take me any longer to mow my lawn and in fact required noticeably less effort than pushing a heavier powered mower, especially going up some of the slopes. It does take a little more effort in tall grass, so it's important to mow regularly and not let things get so out of hand. (I should be doing that anyway.) The only downside I can see is that sometimes the taller blades of grass just get flattened instead of cut and several passes are needed to trim them. This might not be as much of a problem if you mow the grass lower than the medium factory-setting, but I can live with it. The grass catcher is small and not worth the trouble with a larger lawn. It's easy to attach, but fiddling with the strap that hooks onto the mower handle gets annoying when the catcher needs to be frequently emptied. So I would recommend planning to leave the clippings on the lawn or remove them with a rake or leafblower. Those misgivings aside, this machine is a pleasure to use. I'll probably still use my gas mower to chop up the autumn leaves for leaf mold, but otherwise I'll be using this for my regular mowing. No ear plugs required! ... show more

  • For fancy suburb yards ONLY not for natural/wild yards
Size: 16" 5 Blade, Grass Catcher
If you have tree litter at all, twigs and leaves, this one is NOT for you. The blades do not cut through and you'll be stopping every five seconds to unjam the blades. If you have little dents or holes in your yard, this one is NOT for you. It presses the grass down in the dents and leaves chunks of long bits that stick back up in a couple hours. If you have wild flowers, weeds, or tree seedlings, this one is NOT for you. It does not at all cut them, you'll have to hand weed after you mow. It doesn't bother me, BUT this thing is LOUD. Exactly the sound of using the file on the kitchen knife but ten times the volume. If you have one of those as seen on tv lawns in the suburbs, this product would probably be awesome and would cut grass beautifully. Super fast, very light weight so easy to use, takes up very little storage room. Great value for money. BUT those with natural or wild yards DO NOT BUY. ... show more

  • Cuts great in the beginning, but…..
Size: 16" 7 Blade, Grass Catcher
I bought my mower in January and it performs great, but the grass catchment pretty much sucks. The grass goes almost everywhere but in the attachment. And now after a few months have gone bye , the wheels are a little bit sticky and needs to be forced to operate normally.

  • Great Mower!!
Size: 16" 7 Blade, Grass Catcher
I keep my lawn at 0.5" with this mower, and I cannot be happier with it! With typical maintenance, such as blade sharpening, and retightening this mower is a great mower!!!

  • a great cut. Great for Early Morning Mowing! Will not wake the neighbors! a great cut. Great for Early Morning Mowing! Will not wake the neighbors!
Size: 14" 5 Blade, Grass Catcher
Love the lightness and small footprint. I only have to do the strip between my sidewalk and the street. The bag Catcher is underwhelming, does not work to well. The only major complaint is that it does not move much when pulling backwards and flips up. My old one was about 60. Plus years old and had no problem be pulled backwards. Makes the same sound as my old one. I have it on the highest setting for the 1st few cuts this season. Did not take out the old dandelion stems (see picture) . I did notice the neighbors yard who power mows, that it also missed a few dandelion stems. The second picture shows the crisp cut on the edge. Oh and I like the Powder Blue color ! ... show more

  • Another Reel Mower that just can't "cut it" Another Reel Mower that just can't "cut it"
Size: 16" 7 Blade, Grass Catcher
Sorry American Lawn Mower Company, your 7 blade mower is no better that the 5 blade Scotts Reel Mower. After using the Scotts 5 blade Reel mower for about 10 full cuts of my small 2000 sqft hybrid bermuda yard, I couldn't take the frustration anymore of the washboard look of my turf and having to stop every five feet to restart in order to regain reel speed. So, I returned it to Home Depot and purchased the 7 blade reel mower from American Lawn Mower Company. It was delivered and used today, 6/30/23, for the first time. Very disappointed in this mower. If any of you mower manufacturers want to corner the market on manual reel mowers make one that works on short Bermuda because I am convinced there isn't one that exists. I'll pay twice the price if you'll make one that works. The only way I can even make one good pass on my turf is to push it forward very quickly with my arms (to maximize reel speed) and stop. Then repeat, then repeat then repeat. If I try to maintain any sort of consistent speed I will come to a thicker patch of Bermuda and the wheels will slide across the turf because the reel is bogging down. You can see in the photo I posted that I am not cutting a lot of length off. The barely distinguishable contrast in the grass height is the amount of grass length I am cutting off. I am cutting at 3/4"-1" height. The only thing I know to try is the raise the cut and see if it works better. To the manufacturer: I challenge you to visit me here in NC and see your own equipment at work. I am serious. Maybe you can make some improvements to your design to satisfy the reel mower fans out there. Until then, I guess I will be shopping for a gas powered reel mower to get the job done. Please don't reply to my review with a thank you and that you value customer feedback. Instead, make a machine that works. Let me point out, before anyone asks or questions my review...the grass wasn't wet, I wasn't cutting more than a 1/3 of the blade, I was walking at a pace to maintain reel speed but not bog down the reel, and I am very experienced in turf maintenance. ... show more
