I liked the color and the size of the plates and bowls. I would prefer to see a larger set but not have coffee cups I've never really cared to have matching coffee cups. I was curious about the gold around the outside and to my surprise had no issues in the microwave. Although the set looks really nice you could probably find something for half the price at Big lots or other stores if you look. My husband and I have the overall color scheme of dark gray/black/white accents in and throughout the home we built. I have been adding more black pieces to my kitchen, including stainless steel black matte silverware, but my dining set was still dark blue sets...but I saw these and scooped them up. They are SO beautiful and feel well-made, yet being lightweight. They have gold specks throughout the black of the dining sets, along with the gold ring around the tops of the pieces. My 16 piece dinnerware set included 4 of each of the following: dinner plate, bowl, saucer and coffee cups. The color is a muted black with gold trim. The dinner set is quite heavyweight and sturdy. However, after about a week or two or normal usage it would appear that some of the gold trim has either rubbed off or faded. The dinnerware set size runs a little smaller that your traditional set and this includes each piece. The bowl although it runs smaller would appear to have more depth. Overall it would appear that the manufacturer has put a lot of thought in this unique black design; but fell a little short with the trim fading. ... show more
