This CPU is incredible! You see a lot of recent YouTube videos where reviewers are saying it's too expensive. My previous AMD 5950X was $799 when I bought it just a few years ago. At the time, it was the best of the best. Not anymore; this AMD 9950X3D2 - Dual Edition is the current AMD champion. It's the best at everything; both production and gaming. So for $899, I don't see what they are talking about. I get a massive workstation boost and now my gaming FPS is the highest I've ever had. It's a beast! It's actually staying cooler than my AMD 5950X, because it's more efficient and the L3 Cache on both CCD's is something you FEEL in applications and virtualization. I love it! I manually clocked the RAM to 5600hz. I know I can go higher, but with 128GB, I'm happy where I am. Older 128GB DDR4 RAM was running stable at 3200hz. I'm not looking to squeeze out the highest possible RAM frequency before my motherboard becomes unstable. Just moderate increase. AMD 9950X3D2 CPU is stock settings w/ECO power profile. I shoot for cool and stable system builds.

I received a very good Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 sample from Amazon. The CPU arrived in perfect condition and worked properly from the first boot. After testing it on an ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Glacial motherboard, the processor showed excellent performance and unusually strong Curve Optimizer headroom. With stock boost settings, the CPU successfully completed repeated Cinebench R23 10-minute tests at an all-core Curve Optimizer value of -45. It achieved up to 45,310 points without crashes, WHEA errors, or thermal throttling. It also passed a more aggressive setup with EXPO enabled, PBO limits set to Motherboard, Scalar 10X, Boost Override +200 MHz, and CO -30. Gaming performance was also excellent. In the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark at 4K with an RTX 5090, the system achieved an average of 427.82 FPS and remained completely stable. This CPU is significantly better than another replacement sample I previously tested. Temperatures, clock behavior, and power efficiency were all very impressive. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. This is one of the best CPU samples I have tested, and I will be keeping it as my main processor. Highly recommended.

This CPU is an absolute monster when it comes to emulation and heavily modded games, which was the core reason I bought it. While it may thrive more for workstation related things or AI productivity, its ability to just tank through so many assets and things being loaded at once or modlists that are rather unoptimized is astonishing. Highly recommended for those who are very into emulation or highly modded games especially Skyrim, Fallout, or Minecraft, but isn't really practical for those who go for more casual experiences. It does run fairly hot out of the box so I highly recommend undervolting or using an excellent cooler.
