Vision problems (AMD) make reading (and solving crosswords) difficult. Range of motion: the only motion allowed is the hinge between the upright and the light bar. As a result, (for MY needs) it can't readily be used on a side table and have it reach out over a book in my lap. Shop for a floor lamp for that type of use. Back to my use: it is rechargeable, and light enough to easily move around a newspaper page laid out on a kitchen counter. That was my intent when I bought it, and it's perfect for my newspaper puzzle work. It would obviously be good for close hobby work as well. you can use it while it's charging with the included AC adapter and USB-C cable. (The cable is noticeably heavier than a Lightning cable.) I can't accurately comment on battery life - and it wouldn't be fair to guess. There are three brightness settings, so obviously life will vary with that setting. No promises, but I'll try to run a test at medium brightness and add it to this review. ... show more

In my research, most battery powered desk lamps are rated at 400 lumens or less. This lamp is rated at 530 lumens and is perfect for my use and am very happy with it. I would have liked more range of motion, but can live with the limited range because of the excellent lumen rating. It is also very light and portable. I would have also liked a charge indicator light - it is hard to know if it is charging or when charging has been completed. All in all, it is a great value for the price. 8/30/23 - Updated review.....I discovered that this does have a charge indicator light and would like to give this product 4 1/2 stars. Extra range of motion would move it to 5 stars, but it is excellent at this price point. ... show more
