I have multiple external hard-drives, some of them are bulky and are meant to keep a backup at home. Some of them are smaller ones which I use to carry my photos and other files around with me while I am traveling or transporting data between home and office. Two of them are small 1TB and 2TB USB3.0 hard-drives. I wanted to buy a case for them. After considering a lot of hard and soft cases from various sellers, I stumbled upon this and thought of giving it a try. And it was a wise decision !!! As I always say, Amazon Basics items are equivalent (if not better) to quality in other comparable items from different manufacturers and yet they are available at almost half the price (and sometimes even lesser than that). I have many of the Amazon Basics items and I am not unhappy with any of them. And this is no exception. A few good things: 1. The exterior is pretty hard and you can rest assured that your HDD will be protected even if this case is buried deep down in the luggage. 2. Soft interior makes sure that the HDD stays safe even if there is some pressure on it from other items in the luggage. 3. This case is made for HDD which do not require an external power because there is not much space inside for any adapter. However, there is a mesh pocket which can be used to store the USB cod safely. 4.Even if its hard and durable, the case is pretty light-weight and wont ad much weight to your luggage. 5. Although its advertised for Western Digital My Passport but it can be used to store other USB powered HDDs which are up to 5 inches in dimension. I have one of these for my Seagate 1 TB HDD. 6. It also has an elastic band to hold the HDD securely in the case while in use. 7. The zipper is of very good quality and will not fail on you anytime soon. Cons: The only disadvantage I can think of this case is that there is none. If I have to count one, I would say it would have been better had they made a small zipper pocket inside the case (which would be of great use to photographers like me to also store their memory cards in it while on a trip. I purchased this case in 2014 and it’s been a great investment. The interior is lined with soft fabric that prevents scratches, and it has a mesh pocket for storing cables. The zipper is smooth, and the case fits perfectly in my backpack. I have purchased several of these type products for my electronics. The look of the Amazon Basics is nice. The zipper is sturdy and is easy to zip or unzip. The inside is padded well and I like the orange fabric inside (usually you find black fabric) so it makes it easy to see what is inside the case. Overall the product seems to be well made and my external harddrive fits well including the cords that come with it. My 4 stars is because it is not a hard case like others I have purchased. Most of the others I have the case is hard so it won't crush easily. Amazon's is kind of soft-sided, so I can easily push down on it and feel it crush. This is a bit disappointing as I feel safer with the harder cases especially if I have to travel. But the case does offer better protection than nothing at all or putting in a plastic baggie or other alternatives. It also keeps things looking better organized than anything else I have found so far. Inside there is a velcro strap to keep the harddrive in place so it doesn't move around and a mesh pouch to hold the cords and other items securely. The price is good and I really don't have any complaints. I do have a suggestion though. It would be great to have a place to put a tag on them so you can tell what is in the case without opening it. I have so many of these now that I don't remember what is in which bag (plus almost all the cases are black on the outside) I may have to find some tags to attach to the zipper. ... show more
