  • The 64 GB graphite colorsoft scribe is a solid device.
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Graphite Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
BUILD The device is sturdy and solid. The rubber nubs on the bottom of the device are held in place providing excellent protection. They feel like they will never come out and are definitely not glued in. But, I always have a quiver of extra protective items in place for my devices. SPEED This is a super device, just incredible. The graphic novels and the colors are fantastic. The layout and software are just a bit different than the regular Kindle scribe. The pens are very responsive and there is no hesitation or slowness in any of the operations or test that it is given. PLAN TO USE BUSINESS CLOUD OPTIONS I have noticed some options for import and export but I cannot comment on them yet as I'm enjoying this device so much at this time. SET UP Set up was absolutely simple and even quicker than any of my other Kindle devices that I favor (all of them). Even download times that you would expect to be longer because of bigger pages being downloaded are not noticeable. FIRST SECOND AND THIRD PARTY ACCESSORIES For me, there are just enough first party and second party items to make the most of this device available at this time. I did also grab some paper like feel covers and a Mars Lumograph (PC EMR) digital pencil, (the blue one) and a Lamy AL-Star (PC) EMR digital pen with some extra nibs. As you may find out by doing some research, the Amazon pro pen is definitely the best pen that there is (I almost went ahead and bought another Amazon pro pen) but I love the extra options by picking up the extra pencil and pen by STAEDTLER. I was also able to grab one of the Amazon"s professional portfolio covers. The leather on the new covers is beautiful. The Colorsoft professional portfolio cover leather has a slight crinkled pattern while my black and white Kindle scribe stand up cover is smooth. The Colorsoft scribe cover seems to take the scratches a little better. The Colorsoft cover folds to the left and opens up to the left with a magnetic fold over tab to hold the device and pen all together. COLOR AND PLEASING APPEARANCE TO THE EYE - ENJOYMENT TO GET SUCKED IN TO A LARGE PAGE The pages are huge and again that the color, especially a graphic novels or any colors graphics that are in any of the books also look wonderful great for the eyes soft on the eyes. SPECIAL DEVICE This is a special device as a Kindle. I feel Amazon developed the ultimate Kindle. What we have here is a color kindle mixed with color scribe that is blazing fast. But each kindle has its place. The Colorsoft Scribe is an incredible value for the price. Expect a kindle that pulls at your heart strings that is nothing less than a Colorsoft and a Scibe all mixed together like a perfect speedy batter for the perfect cake. Gosh just enjoy it as it makes your synapses fire. ... show more

  • My Favorite Gadget for 2025
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Graphite Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
I am one of the Scribe fans that has been waiting on this since Amazon announced the Scribe was getting color. I loved my Kindle Colorsoft already and wished the scribe would get the same treatment so I could read magazines and graphic novels in color. While I had the 2024 Scribe, I personally felt it was worth it to upgrade to color. It's an unfair comparison from the Scribe Colorsoft to the iPad. It's different use cases. I often see complaints about that on Reddit. What I love about the Scribe Colorsoft is that I really do want it for two things: Reading and note taking. I do a lot of note taking in my job (professor) and with the new Scribe Colorsoft, the organization with the folders and notebooks has been awesome. I've taken a million and one notes on a Word Doc and to be honest, it's one big folder of nonsensical garbage. There's something about writing it out by hand and organizing my research, thoughts, and ideas in digital notebooks that make it easier. The hardware is what sold me. I do like the Remarkable Pros but the Scribes feel more like I'm writing from pen to paper. I was a fan of the 2024 Scribe pen but I prefer the 2025 Scribe pen now. It's a little thicker and more comfortable. I am surprised that it's a stand out white and not the same color as the Scribe (grey). Not a dealbreaker but it reminds me of the Apple Pencil. As with all Kindles, the battery life is phenomenal so I don't have to plug it daily like an iPad. The cost is what I expect since this is a premium product and on par with the Remarkable Pro. The size is perfect and I recently bought Calvin and Hobbes, which looks great on the Scribe. I like not having the distractions of emails or messages popping up on my display. It's light and I take it with me everywhere. The recent updates have been fantastic with connecting it to Google Drive or OneDrive. I export my notebooks all the time and I love that it gets saved in the Amazon cloud. When I upgraded to this, every single one of my files easily transferred to my new Scribe. Plus, I love being tied into my library of Kindle books. I'm very happy with my purchase and this is my favorite gadget of 2025. ... show more

  • My First Kindle and I’m Never Going Back to Paper!
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Fig Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
The "Paper" Feel is Real The biggest surprise was the screen. It doesn’t feel like a phone or a tablet; it actually looks like paper. The 11” Colorsoft display is easy on my eyes, even after hours of reading, and the colors are soft and natural—it’s like looking at a high-quality Sunday newspaper or a textbook. Writing is a Joy I bought the 64GB model because I wanted plenty of room for both books and notebooks. Writing with the Premium Pen feels incredibly natural. There’s a slight "texture" when you write that mimics a real pen on a page. The Eraser: The fact that the pen has a built-in eraser is a lifesaver for someone like me who makes a lot of mistakes! Organization: I’ve already started separate notebooks for work, daily journaling, and my "to-do" lists. It’s so much better than having ten different physical notebooks lying around my house. Thin, Light, and Simple For such a large screen, it is shockingly light. I can throw it in my bag and barely notice it's there. The setup was also incredibly easy—I just signed into my Amazon account and all my purchases were right there. Why I Love It: No Distractions: Unlike a tablet, there are no social media notifications popping up while I’m trying to focus. Massive Storage: 64GB is probably more than I’ll ever need, but it’s great knowing I can download thousands of books. Battery Life: I’ve been using it every day for a week and the battery has barely moved. Final Thoughts If you’ve been holding out on switching to digital reading and writing, this is the perfect entry point. It’s powerful, easy to use, and seeing my book covers in color makes the transition from physical books feel much more "real." ... show more

  • Great updates to a useful device
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Fig Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
I have used the two previous models of Kindle Scribe and just upgraded to the Colorsoft version. I am a doctoral student and a professor, so I spend a lot of time reading, speaking and note-taking. So far, I am really liking the improvements. The larger screen is great. My favorite feature is the home page that gives me a quick notes page and shows me all of the last documents I have used. The color options are subtle but give me so much more versatility in note-taking. I started using my old Kindle Scribe to give talks recently by exporting word docs to it and that has been awesome. I am already enjoying having OneDrive and GoogleDoc files linked and easy to import. Its saving me lots of time and making the integration more seamless. Two areas that I wish worked a little better: The pen is now so much wider than the body of the device that it can be tricky to hold the Scribe without knocking the pen off. The Scribe needs a faster way to switch between books/pdfs and notes. It would be great if a doc or book could be linked to a specific notebook, especially for those pdfs that do not have the option for a separate notetaking screen like the enhanced books do. It makes it unrealistic to use the Scribe for both reading and notetaking. Overall, I am happy with the updated model and hoping that Amazon keeps on adding to the improvements. ... show more

  • Better all around and the color is AWESOME!!**Update** Better all around and the color is AWESOME!!**Update**
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Fig Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
I have been a Kindle owner since the first one with free cellular. Still own it actually and it still works! Some years ago I bought a Remarkable and LOVED it, but I always felt dumb having an E-Reader and a Remarkable. The Remarkable is a great E-Ink notebook but you have to work a bit to get books in it and I happen to be a diehard Kindle guy. So, when Amazon launched the Scribe a few years back, I jumped on it. It was a bit of a mess off rip but it got better fast. Amazon is dedicated to constant upgrades for these devices and I appreciate that. Anyway, I skipped the last upgrade opportunity as it really didn’t give much more than the original. However, when I saw color and the possibilities it opened, I knew I was getting one. However, for some reason the Fig color was calling out to me so I had to wait until now to get it. Here are my thoughts. The color is the big feature here and it is pretty great but you interact less with it than I first thought. It really does look awesome. Not as vibrant as an OLED panel but surprisingly good and crisp. There is something cool about E-Ink in color. However, outside of book covers and maybe comic books, you don’t see it much while reading. The big winner for me is in highlighting my notes. There are multiple highlighter color options and it really does make a nice difference in more functional notes. The other big difference from the original is the processor speed. Everything here is snappy and responsive. The original was good already but this is noticeably better. As such, writing and navigating is all faster and much more pleasant to use. The glass also feels a bit more textured and it makes a difference. There is also now shading available for a better drawing experience. This was a knock on my original Scribe review. The homepage has also been redone and is MUCH more user friendly. Text conversion is better and a lot more accurate. You can connect everything through OneNote and Microsoft and back up things to Google Drive. All good. I still have some nitpicks. The biggest is the lack of waterproofing. Crazy to spend this money and not have it. Battery life is good but noticeably worse than other Kindles. The homepage is really improved but navigation is still kind of weak. You will find many occasions that you have to click all over to get from your book to a specific notepad. There should be a favorites carousel or something that allows you to more quickly navigate between items. There is something there but it never seems to have what I need in it. I will keep working at it and update. Lastly, like so many reviews have noted, the price is kind of crazy. I did trade in my old Scribe so I got $60 plus 20% off this purchase, which is about $200. Still, it’s the same price as a far more capable iPad. People that write that largely miss the point. This is a the ultimate tool for readers and writers. The iPad isn’t great for either of those. However, it is a worthwhile point when you look at hardware vs hardware and the value proposition one gives you against the other. For me, this was a worthy upgrade. If you are new to the E-Ink notebook world, it is truly awesome. I love having all of my notes in one place. Work, home, personal projects, to do lists, etc. All in one easy to use digital device. If you love to read on a Kindle, you are really in for a treat here. This is the ULTIMATE reading machine. The Colorsoft Scribe won’t be for everyone, but if you are a die hard reader that loves to take notes and uses notebooks often, this will not disappoint you. I will have multiple updates to this review as I get more time here but I am a fan today. **Update**I am an even bigger fan after my first couple weeks and it isn’t just the color screen. It’s the new processor that makes the difference here. It makes up for a lot of the OS flaws by just being more responsive and allowing you to get around more quickly. The writing experience is also significantly upgraded as a result. The ink hits the notebook with virtually no lag. It really is great. I have had a number of folks ask me about the fig color as well so it wasn’t just me. Everyone seems to love it. More to come. ... show more

  • I wouldn't buy this for manga or graphic novels; it's tragic really
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Graphite Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
Everything about this experience was bad for me. My nearly $700 64GB Scribe Colorsoft arrived poorly padded in a beat up outer box and the inside box was scuffed as well. I thought, "ok, it's just the outer packaging". I open it up and go to power it on. I'd selected the box for them to set it up so I could skip the initial setup but there I was, staring at the Language select screen followed by Region and finally...... Setup for my account. At this point we're already down to 4 stars max for the bad "out the box" experience by it not being configured as requested. I mean they do offer the option so... I do what it recommends and use the Kindle app on my iPhone (15 Pro) to do the setup. It sees the new Kindle and goes to connect it to WiFi.... It shows every network except my two networks. Even though I'm in the room with the router, the phone is connected to the same network, and I have both 2.4 & 5G bands for it to use. I hit rescan.. 5 times... Nothing. I close the app, re-open it and try again... Nothing. You get no option to continue if your network doesn't show up. I try 4 more times and then my network shows up and I finish setup. Were down to 3.5 stars max because at this point I'm irritated. It was almost $700 after all and I just spend 10 minutes trying to do what they said would be done for me. Finally I go through the settings and set it up like normal and then go to download my books, manga and graphic novels. It seems fast. Until you download something big. I downloaded Vineland Saga Vol.1. It took over 5 minutes on 5G WiFi and I have 900+ Mbps over WiFi in my house. Ok, I think, "Only gotta do that once". Then I go to open it..... Wait for it... Wait for it... It took so long I started counting. After 3 minutes I scrolled the page thinking it had frozen. It hadn't but it was just back to showing me the book. I tapped to open it again and it said "opening" again. Another 3 minutes. Repeat. This time it opened in 1 minute 37 seconds. I try to scroll back to the start of the graphic novel by tapping the top of the screen and then dragging the progress bar to the beginning. It won't let me. At this point were down to 2 stars max. After a dragging forward to the middle of the graphic novel and letting it get me to the page, it then let me drag to the beginning. I download a few manga and Solo Leveling. I open Solo Leveling which worked fine but then when trying to read I could barely make out the images. It's a resolution thing, color and contrast thing. I thought this would be a great device for it but it was very, very bad. There are images with multiple people early on and you honest to goodness can only make out 2 people. I pop open the same page on my iPad Mini 6 and go, "wow. There's like 4 other people in this panel". I go back into Library and look at my Collections. I keep everything in a collection from samples and even split fiction and non-fiction. When you buy a lot of series with 20+ books in them it feels essential for finding what you're looking for. No matter what I did, it would not sort by recent. It kept putting collection that hadn't been read, added to or downloaded from for years at the top. Meanwhile a entire series I just bought and downloaded two days ago was buried in the middle. Yes, I did use sort. I toggled it off and on trying to fix it and it wouldn't. I was determined to keep the first 4 or so collections in alphabetical order. Yeah... Were definitely at no more than 2 stars now. I try to read a black and white manga because that's where it should be 300 PPI right? Contrast kills it. You stare at the page trying to make out what the background art is supposed to be. I was so disappointed at that point. I tried several manga, and these are all manga I bought through Amazon (that's the only way I buy or read manga) 1 star, definitely going to return. I had this out the box and lost all faith in it in less than 3 hours. TLDR; Software isn't ready and features don't work like they should. Bad for color graphic novels with fuzzy images, washed out color and most importantly you really can make out what your looking at well. It's not about if it's pretty, it lacks sufficient contrast for intelligibility. It's an 11 inch screen and I was reading with a squint and it 8 inches from my face trying to make things out. Vineland Saga looked great but basic manga looked bad. There wasn't enough contrast and the more you crank the backlight the worse the contrast gets. I'm returning it, disappointed beyond words. I was so looking forward to this. I will say it was perfectly fine for book that are just text. But at this price point that doesn't make sense for me when I still have (and love) my Oasis. ... show more

  • Very impressed
Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Color: Graphite Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
So I wanted to wait a month before I gave my honest opinion of the kindle scribe. Before I purchased the scribe I used to have the kindle paperwhite and honestly I loved that one but I really wanted to have a ebook that I could use for work and to use to read for my little 2 year old as well since my little one is really into books. So I decided to get the scribe color soft. And I have to say I really enjoy this kindle. The name of the kindle is definitely what it is advertised. The color is soft but in a way that the color feels natural and is not hard on the eyes. The size of the kindle is surprisingly nice as well. It makes reading feel like you are reading a hardcover book instead of a small soft cover. The things that took me a minute to get used to is the battery life. Granted I use my scribe for everything now and I am on it all the time compared to my old paperwhite but the battery life is not bad. It lasts me a month. The writing is very good as well, I love using it as a journal and as a note taker for meetings at my work. I know the price is a little high on this kindle but I l promise this kindle is worth the money. I am very thankful that I have purchased this kindle and I truly enjoy and appreciate it fully. ... show more

  • A good upgrade
Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Fig Offer Type: Without Kindle Unlimited
I had a Kindle Scribe (1st gen) that I loved. I gave that to my wife, and she also loves it. The colorsoft scribe was my upgrade, and it's been fantastic! Great screen, faster than my original, the stylus works great (I added a good screen protector and a titanium stylus nib so it won't wear out). The battery life isn't as good as the older Kindle Scribe, but that is to be expected, and I knew that when I bought it based on other reviews. Annotating, sketching, taking notes, drawing diagrams, and of course, reading, are all great on this device. If you're thinking of an upgrade and you want or need color, this is a great device. Easy to connect to wifi, browse and shop for books in the Kindle store, and paired with a good case (My preference is Fintie), it feels substantial in the hand - like a book. Without the case, it is thin, light, and I was honestly afraid I would break it (though that's unlikely, but drops do happen). ... show more
