  • THE WORLD'S SAFEST WAY TO SPLIT KINDLING - INVENTED BY A TEENAGER: The Kindling Cracker was designed by 13-year-old Ayla Hutchinson of New Zealand after her mother injured her hand with a splitting axe. Her solution: a patented cast iron safety ring that keeps your hands completely away from the fixed splitting wedge at all times. No swinging blade. No close calls. Just clean, safe kindling - every time.
  • EFFORTLESS TO USE - ANYONE CAN DO IT: Place a log inside the 9-inch cast iron safety ring, strike the top with a mallet, hammer, or even another piece of wood, and the fixed wedge does the rest. Requires significantly less force than a standard axe, making it accessible for all ages and skill levels - from curious kids to 84-year-olds who want to keep splitting their own kindling independently
  • ONE SOLID PIECE OF AUSTRALIAN CAST IRON - BUILT FOR GENERATIONS: Forged as a single, seamless piece of premium cast iron at an Australian foundry, the Kindling Cracker has no welds, no joints, no moving parts, and no blade to sharpen. Zero maintenance. Works in temperatures as low as -94F (-70C). A tool your grandkids' grandkids can use.
  • INTERNATIONALLY AWARDED, PATENTED, AND ONE OF A KIND: The Kindling Cracker is not just another tool - it's a patented, award-winning innovation that has earned global recognition since its invention by a teenage student in New Zealand. Backed by international accolades and sold in dozens of countries worldwide, it remains the original and most trusted kindling splitter on the market. Imitations exist - there is only one Kindling Cracker.
  • PERFECT FOR EVERY FIRE, XL SIZE HANDLES 40% LARGER LOGS: The King's expanded 9-inch inside diameter safety ring accommodates logs nearly 40% larger than the original Kindling Cracker, while the 17-inch tall frame gives you plenty of clearance for longer pieces of firewood - perfect for splitting a full stack quickly and efficiently.

Features

  • A safe and easy way to make kindling with no moving blade or sharpened object passing by your hands
  • Splits firewood with less force than a standard axe
  • 9in. inside dia. top ring offers more space than the original model to handle large pieces of firewood
  • 17in. height allows you to split long pieces of firewood
  • Virtually maintenance-free

  • BEST kindling maker I've ever owned!!! A++++++
Size: X-Large
I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but this one is definitely deserving of one!!! First off, I liked the story behind how this product was developed. More importantly, this is HANDS DOWN the BEST kindling maker I've ever had! It's sturdy, safe, quick, and just plan WORKS....all with minimal effort! You can make your sizes as big or as little as you want. No more hoping to hit where you want with an ax/hatchet, picking up, trying to stand the piece on end, and repeating over and over. Go with the KC King (XL) size and it'll chew through anything thrown at it! I'd say I'd order again, but with how well this is built, I'd imagine it'll be a generational hand-down type of tool, and will last. VERY impressed!!!!!! ... show more

  • Impressive. Effective. Keeping my fingers
Size: X-Large
Wow! The price is great and the product is definitely the one you want (I’d guess). First, it is both heavy and sturdy. I haven’t felt and wobble due to the well-designed base. I’m glad I got the XL. Small (2 inch by 2 inch) sticks can be set on the blade, tapped with the back end of a hatchet to set, let go, hit it again, and very small kindling. Now I don’t have to worry about being like my grandpa and father-in-law with a chopped finger! But it also works to spilt whatever fits in. I just started using it, so I don’t know how long the splitter edge will stay good, but it looks indestructible and here for the long haul. Another perk, check out the detailed patterns on it. It looks so nice that we are leaving it by the fireplace and taking it out when needed. SUPER HAPPY! ... show more

  • A Well Made and Effective Tool
Size: X-Large
I rarely write reviews, and I've only owned the wood splitter for a week, but in the two ro three times I've used it I've been very impressed. It's solidly built and has cut the wood easily and efficiently. The wood I cut had no knots in it. It appears to me that if you are using the tool in the manner prescribed, and the wood has relatively parallel grain it should work well of you. ... show more

  • Well made and works great!
Size: X-Large
This thing is very well made and works great! I prefer smaller logs for my fire pit and it makes it super simple and safe to reduce the size of the larger logs I have. I have terrible aim swinging a maul so this makes splitting much easier. I use a 4lb sledge with a 16" handle. Highly recommend.

  • This has made me love my fireplace even more!
Size: X-Large
It works! It works really well! I saw this in an advertisement and thought there's no way that could work that easily to split kindling. That's probably because I've been using either an axe or a hatchet and doing it the hard way, meaning I miss half the time. I'm a vertically-challenged almost-antique female, and if I can produce a pile of kindling with this thing without calling 911, you know it works easily! We fastened four pieces of 4 x 4 lumber together to make a platform to attach it to so it sits nice and steady, and picked up a 4-pound short handled sledge hammer to keep it company. That's all it takes. Sit the piece of firewood end on end on the blade, keep tapping it down with the hammer, and you get kindling. It's just that easy. So far the blade has stayed seriously sharp, and with no moving parts, you can't kill it. This item is solidly built. It looks like it was made by a blacksmith. One thing I'd suggest is that you get the larger size this comes in. The smaller size might be just a little small for some pieces of firewood to fit into, but the larger size has easily accommodated all of the pieces I've needed to split. One of the best things I've ever bought. Simple, strong and it works exactly as advertised. ... show more

  • Solid Splitter - Not as Easy as Videos
Size: X-Large
pretty solid. Guessing best available. Weight of king is good, but wish I bought standard for size...in the end I'll take weight over size. Size - I only have 2 pieces in a half a cord bigger than 6 inch split. ~3-4 inch want to fall. 4lb mallet? dont know about that. I use a 2 lb mallet to "set" on the wedge (so it doesnt fall over), then the back end of a full size axe as a sledge hammer. Splits at ~10% humidity = 1-2 hits. Mishaped, 15%+ humidity, or knots = 10-30 hard hits with a sledge hammer. Still best option over ax, other wedge or chop saw : ) CAREFUL -I dinged the wedge first use on a very dry, easy split. Problem - some take 30 whacks...some take 1! dang wood! ... show more

  • Durable and Safe
Size: X-Large
This is a great tool for splitting pre-cut wood. Very sturdy and much safer than splitting with an axe... a good investment for fire pit wood or fireplace wood. I am a grandma in my 70's and able to use this tool. Able to purchase in different sizes ;chose a sturdy, hefty hammer for use with this tool...wear safety glasses ... show more

  • Great log splitter - easy to use!
Size: X-Large
Wow, works like a charm! I use it to make kindling out of my already split logs. I used a 16oz hammer at first to see if that would work ok - and it did - but it is much faster and easier using a 3 lb. sledge hammer (make sure you get a sledge that has a good grip). It takes more work to bust through a log with knots in it but I can usually split the log. Makes short work of splitting bigger logs and getting .5" to 1" kindling - very nice - but I can't usually get it much thinner than that. My 9 year old grandson can had a good time with the splitter as well! ... show more
