It doesn't feel like plastic. It's soft and cloth like. I've spilled quite a few things on it. And never gotten any stain on my mattress. I don't think I would try to pour a whole gallon of water or other liquid and expected to work well . But I've never tried that so I really don't know . But for it's purpose it's absolutely excellent . Keeping the little everyday spills and stains off your mattress. It absolutely does that job. The fit is good. The only knock I have on it is the zipper is a little cheap. But that's everything nowadays. Highly recommend this product ... show more
