I have had this unit for a few weeks, and I can't believe how exceptionally well it performs to cool down my 130 square-foot bedroom. Today I turned it on when the bedroom was 83F, and within 30 minutes the temperature fell 6 degrees It is a bit noisy when running the air conditioner full blast with the compressor on, but only does so when turning it on initially in a hot room. Once it has cooled the room down to the desired temperature, it is a bit noisy but again, only when the compressor kicks on to lower the temperature back to the desired level, then it becomes quiet again until the compressor comes back on. The unit is easy to install, and the instructions are easy to follow. It appears to be built of high-quality components. It is wonderfully priced for such a high-quality unit. I was surprised at how easy it was to install this air conditioner and how well it works. It cools my entire small one bedroom apartment very well. The price was great with free delivery as a prime member. It was just what I needed moving into my new home. It looks really nice. It’s pretty quiet. I like that you could get the filter out easily to wash it and my allergies from Spring pollen are actually better when it’s running. I think it will be good on energy. Happily surprised with this little unit so far. I'm using this temporarily in my primary bedroom for the summer. This room is quite a bit larger than 150 sqft and my ceilings are 13 ft. high on the tallest side. It's mid May and the nighttime temps are stating to warm up. I'm only using this at night. I have it cranked up to the coldest setting and highest fan speed and it does well. I'm not going to see my breath or anything like that, but it gets the temps down low enough to make it comfortable. Its about as loud as my ceiling fan and oscillating fan that I was running prior. The noise doesn't bother me,but if you're a person who needs quiet to sleep, this might be an issue. As far as the cost to run this, I will have to wait and see but some of those who have reviewed this previously have said it wasn't anything crazy. This thing works, though for a 150 SqFt bedroom, I really had higher hopes. It was easy to install, and it is relatively quiet. It does cool the room down, but really struggles to keep up with the Florida heat as the hottest part of the day roles around. But it works great at night and improves my sleep quality. This smaller window air conditioner does very well for its size. It blows decently, but don’t expect a hurricane in your bedroom or small shed. It does a good job of cooling my 16 x 20 shed in moderate hot weather. I don’t think it would be able to handle 85+ degrees, maybe keep it bearable, but not cold. You definitely can’t beat that price point for something that may help you when you’re main AC goes out and you want to cool one bedroom. Sometimes, less is more, especially when it comes to cooling a single room. I picked up the Amazon Basics 5000-BTU Small Window Air Conditioner specifically for my bedroom, and it has proven to be the ideal workhorse for targeted cooling. While it doesn't boast built-in Wi-Fi, its simplicity is actually its biggest strength for my particular use case: full automation through Home Assistant. Installation was a breeze – truly one of the easiest window units I've ever dealt with. It's lightweight and the adjustable window kit made for a snug fit in minutes. Once it was in, I plugged it into a smart plug, which is the secret sauce to my setup. Paired with motion and temperature sensors in Home Assistant, this little unit is now fully automated. It only kicks on when someone is in the room and the temperature crosses my comfort threshold. This means no wasted energy cooling an empty room, and I walk into a perfectly chilled space every time. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The last one I had was the midea, which is around the same price and actually lasted two seasons before the compressor went. I’ve had many Amazon products over the years, so I thought why not especially since the price was so good. This is my first night using it at the time I’m writing this review so I may update it in the future. When I first turned it on, I admit it wasn’t cold at first, and I was a little concerned…. But about 30 seconds later…. Ice ice baby!!! it feels amazing. I can’t talk about the cleaning yet because the filter is brand new, but just like the other ac I had it. It’s very basic you pull out the filter you wash it out in the sink and then you put it back in so I don’t think that’ll be a problem. It did not come with a remote control, which is fine anyway because I hooked it up to an Alexa outlet so whenever I say “Alexa, turn on the air conditioner” it immediately comes on at the setting. I left it previously, and if I say turn it off, it shuts off.. as far as the noise? Honestly, it’s very quiet it reminds me of white noise you know the kind of sound you use for sleeping. This is actually a lot quieter than the other one. I’m really surprised. Amazon basic products are definitely getting better…. But again this is my first night if next year it’s still working and the year after that in the year after that believe me, I’ll update it and make this an even better review but if it breaks in a short amount of time, I’ll update the review either way right now I’m in heaven and I’m going to sleep. Goodnight! 😁 update: I just bought my second one. I really love it. Yes it’s true. It does not blow out cold at first so you must be patient. The air conditioner wasn’t as cold as I expected unless I turned the fan speed all the way up. Otherwise, it mostly just felt like a fan. The unit is also pretty noisy while running. It’s not constantly loud, but sometimes the noise would wake me up in the middle of the night. Considering the affordable price, I’m still willing to give it 4 stars. ... show more
