Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The last one I had was the midea, which is around the same price and actually lasted two seasons before the compressor went. I’ve had many Amazon products over the years, so I thought why not especially since the price was so good. This is my first night using it at the time I’m writing this review so I may update it in the future. When I first turned it on, I admit it wasn’t cold at first, and I was a little concerned…. But about 30 seconds later…. Ice ice baby!!! it feels amazing. I can’t talk about the cleaning yet because the filter is brand new, but just like the other ac I had it. It’s very basic you pull out the filter you wash it out in the sink and then you put it back in so I don’t think that’ll be a problem. It did not come with a remote control, which is fine anyway because I hooked it up to an Alexa outlet so whenever I say “Alexa, turn on the air conditioner” it immediately comes on at the setting. I left it previously, and if I say turn it off, it shuts off.. as far as the noise? Honestly, it’s very quiet it reminds me of white noise you know the kind of sound you use for sleeping. This is actually a lot quieter than the other one. I’m really surprised. Amazon basic products are definitely getting better…. But again this is my first night if next year it’s still working and the year after that in the year after that believe me, I’ll update it and make this an even better review but if it breaks in a short amount of time, I’ll update the review either way right now I’m in heaven and I’m going to sleep. Goodnight! 😁 update: I just bought my second one. I really love it. Yes it’s true. It does not blow out cold at first so you must be patient. I have had this unit for a few weeks, and I can't believe how exceptionally well it performs to cool down my 130 square-foot bedroom. Today I turned it on when the bedroom was 83F, and within 30 minutes the temperature fell 6 degrees It is a bit noisy when running the air conditioner full blast with the compressor on, but only does so when turning it on initially in a hot room. Once it has cooled the room down to the desired temperature, it is a bit noisy but again, only when the compressor kicks on to lower the temperature back to the desired level, then it becomes quiet again until the compressor comes back on. The unit is easy to install, and the instructions are easy to follow. It appears to be built of high-quality components. It is wonderfully priced for such a high-quality unit. I heartily recommend this unit to anyone looking for a well-built and well-performing air conditioner

My son kept saying he’d get air conditioner for his room. He’d get one, he’d get one, he’d get one. Meanwhile, we were heading into the spa of two weeks of temperatures well up in the high 90s we even had a couple days in the low hundreds. I ordered this for his room. It came very quickly as usual, and when he got home from work that day, I said put it in now you’re not sitting in that sweat box anymore. Of course he used it and still uses it and I’m very happy because it was a great product at a great price. It’s not too noisy when you’re going to sleep as a matter of fact, it’s almost like a white noise machine that kind of lol with you into a very comfortable sleep.

It is a decent little A/C. If you are using it simply to cool a bedroom, it will cool just fine. I live in a high humidity area, so naturally, it struggles to properly move all the water away, but the negative effects can be mitigated with the proper support, such as moisture resistant tape. It fits well enough in my window, which is metal. Instructions only tell you how to fit it in a wood or vinyl window. If you have it set to the greatest cooling, and your bedroom area is 200sq ft or less, you will find the room to be quite cold when you awaken, which is good. If you set it to the highest fan setting, the air coming out of the vents will climb from ~46F to about 50 or 60F depending. It's better than what my landlord is currently doing, which is nothing to fix the hvac. It is louder and less efficient than average, so be prepared to use earplugs. I still noticed a reduction in my bill from having it.

WOW, what a surprised this was. It packs a punch. I read the reviews. I have had this for a few weeks now and use on occasion as we've had weird weather. Some days are 70 and no humidity with high 50's for nights so I don't use but on the 90 degree days and high humidity, it runs all day. It's small size is great as I can pick it up and install myself. Only 30 some pounds. No remote, but I knew that when ordering and don't really care. It's quiet, performs great, gets incredibly cold. After I received and installed in window, I let it sit about 48 hours before using in case during the shipment it was on side or upside down. I wanted the coolant to settle back before using. Great little air conditioner. Happy with it.

I bought 3 of these units- 2 for myself and one for a friend. My friend's installed mine not quite a month ago. One of mine and my friend's work great. One of mine has never put out that cold of air, but I chalked it up to being in a south facing window. THE WINDOW IS NOT THE PROBLEM. 6:00 this morning, the sun is fully on the East side of my building, and the air coming out of this unit is warmer than on fan. Obviously, it has a coolant leak, and was shipped with one. There was zero damage to any of the shipping boxes.. HOWEVER, this was repackaged like a return. I live in WA a few miles from Canadian/Idaho border. I am almost 2 hours one way, from the nearest town that has anything other than a Post Office and overpriced half empty market, so having it fixed and recharged is out of the question. I took a leap of faith with an Amazon product and got burned. Buyer Beware!!

Sometimes, less is more, especially when it comes to cooling a single room. I picked up the Amazon Basics 5000-BTU Small Window Air Conditioner specifically for my bedroom, and it has proven to be the ideal workhorse for targeted cooling. While it doesn't boast built-in Wi-Fi, its simplicity is actually its biggest strength for my particular use case: full automation through Home Assistant. Installation was a breeze – truly one of the easiest window units I've ever dealt with. It's lightweight and the adjustable window kit made for a snug fit in minutes. Once it was in, I plugged it into a smart plug, which is the secret sauce to my setup. Paired with motion and temperature sensors in Home Assistant, this little unit is now fully automated. It only kicks on when someone is in the room and the temperature crosses my comfort threshold. This means no wasted energy cooling an empty room, and I walk into a perfectly chilled space every time. I'll give the product a four star, it's very utilitarian, which is great because it's simple, fingers crossed it won't break down, (you get what you pay for). Might change the rating later, but seems to cool just fine, although there's a problem with the description, it has no dehumidify mode, (obviously that's accomplished when it's actively cooling). The design is pleasant, but the side louvers aren't quite cut correctly. The inside rubber, "wings", in the sides, are just slightly too short. Not hugely so, but enough that you'll have to pay extra attention. Finally, the hardware advertised in the manual and the product listing wasn't included with my order. Also, the way to secure the sides and top might not be exactly ideal, especially for vinal windows, rentals, and the seasonal installation and removal of the unit. The drain doesn't seem like it's in the correct spot, I would assume it should be further back vs where it's at. The sides were slightly bowed and the rear grill had just one or two marks, but the later is almost expected. Why can't it be manufactured cheaply to use even less energy? Just a thought.
