It's waterproof and it has slightly raised edges, so that any small spills are contained. It doesn't move around when my cat eats. It's easy to clean by simply wiping the mat with a wet cloth, which is very convenient since silicon has the tendency to be a cat hair magnet. It lays perfectly flat. The material has proven to be very sturdy, it basically look just like brand new.

The problem is my cats or my wife. The ones with feral blood love to knock over that water thing with the upside-down jug… always made me nervous. (I feel like I should look that product name up on Amazon). Anyway, these “cats” act like it’s Rumspringa when my wife refills the water jug thing. Can I blame the mats? Can I blame those deer-legged rascals? Nah. It’s my wife’s fault. (Kidding!) Anyway, they’re thick, good quality, easy to clean, definitely long lasting. They stay in place and capture anything a reasonable pet would create. When the aforementioned furballs take out 1,500ml, it is not the mat. That’s if the jug doesn’t roll off. Great mats. I’ve come to expect top quality and great value from Amazon Basics and Essentials, and the like. These mats are no exception.

Three dogs - Lab, Bernese Mountain and Aussie. All three refuse to close their mouth when they are done drinking although I've asked them several times. The blue silicone mat has helped some of the drips as you can see from the picture. Size in picture 24 x 16. I had this mat just on the ground but then water actually got under the mat -thus, the mat under the silicone mat. The Labrador in the picture (rolling her eyes) at me is so you can see the size of the mat. (The bowl is a 17 cup water dish also bought on Amazon.) The third picture shows that even though I put the mat down and it certainly catches SOME of the water, it's not big enough for my three girls. You can see the drips on the floor. When my dogs drink, it forces me to wash the entire floor. Maybe I need 8' x 10' silicone mat - but I don't think they make it that large. It claims to be dishwasher safe - but I haven't tried that yet. 1 Year warranty so if it starts to peel or crack in a year, I'll have recourse. For the cost, and I had a coupon, I'm happy with this purchase.

I've been using this mat for about a year now and I couldn't be happier with it. Until I purchased this mat I'd been using plastic mats I purchased at my local pet shop. I would generally discard them after a few months because they simply wore out and looked terrible. This mar is a pleasure to use. It's a sturdy thick silicone that lays completely flat and has a raised edge that efficiently contains water and food that's dropped on the mat. It's exceptionally easy to clean and because it's so flexible you can just hang it on the back of a chair to store. After a year of daily use it doesn't show any signs of wear. I'm most pleased with it.

It’s water proof as far as water doesn’t leak through but it doesn’t have a lip to keep water from going off the edge and then underneath. Once water is under the mat the water doesn’t dry up. It’s hard to carry to dump off the water that does puddle up on top. It works well enough for small amounts of water and doesn’t slide around on my wood floors.
