  • Works most of the time
Color: Black Size: 10 Port
As a hub, this has been perfectly fine. Helped me clean up messy cabling. But the host USB cable has a habit of coming unplugged. Regular USB type C would have fit more snug.

  • Works well enough for an overequipped PS4.
Color: Black Size: 7 Port
I'm an avid gamer, spending (too much) time gaming on my PS4 and Nintendo Switch. I have a second generation PS4 (not a Pro model) and as time has gone on, I've added a fair amount of equipment to it, specifically electronics. Said electronics are an external hard drive, some PC fans OR a portable cordless fan, a keyboard dongle, and the PS4's controller (because the battery life is abysmal). Those that use equipment like this will realize everything I listed uses USB ports for power and communication. For a time I used an AmazonBasics passive USB splitter, mostly to power the keyboard dongle and the 5 volts power USB plug for my hard drive and it worked well. But as I left my controller plugged in more often and started using fans to cool the PS4's PSU, the splitter started failing. I decided to go with a powered USB hub and got this. I chose this hub because all but one of the AmazonBasics products I've ordered have been of excellent quality, and as I said, it works well enough, though not as well as I expected. This hub comes with a 4 amp transformer (wall plug) so I figured it would output plenty of current. Trouble is, since this hub has so many ports, all of them seem to receive a fixed amount of current. This means that this hub barely manages to charge my PS4's controller, though on the flipside, it charges the cordless fan I use for cooling. I also haven't gotten any warnings about my hard drive disconnecting (meaning it's not getting enough current supplied to it) which leads me to believe that the hub is satisfying the hard drive's power requirements. Since the USB hub isn't fed from my PS4 (that would put me back at square one) I can't attach my keyboard dongle. But, the PS4 has two USB A ports which is enough; One for the dongle and the other for the communications plug for the hard drive, which leaves the hub free for simply powering devices. I may have been better off simply buying a hub with fewer ports, though I did read that said hubs come with lower powered transformers, which again is why I chose this one. Maybe a hub that features individual switching would work more efficiently for my needs, but I digress; Again, this hub is working well enough for my gaming needs and I'd recommend it to anyone that needs consistent USB power. I've not used this on a PC but given that it's working well for my PS4, I see no reason why it wouldn't work great for a PC and for devices that not only receive power from the hub but communicate to and from the hub as well. ... show more

  • Suddenly quit working
Color: Black Size: 7 Port
I bought this hub as part of my work-from-home office setup when everyone else was doing the same thing, in 2020. While it worked everything was great and convenient. I taped it down to my monitor base so I had a nice bank of USB outlets I could easily plug into, and it has worked well for several laptop accessories such as a wireless mouse and keyboard, external speaker, webcam, and several charging cables for phones and watches and other devices. Now after 2 years it has suddenly quit working for any devices that need anything other than charging. I can still use it to deliver power to charge my phone and devices, but the speaker, wireless mice and keyboard, and webcam no longer work unless I plug them into the laptop directly. For the price this was a nice device, with an attractive look that matched my monitors, and convenient, but it lasted 2 years and suddenly quit. I have other similar hubs that are over 10 years old that work fine, even if they aren't as sophisticated. I'm torn over whether to get a replacement in kind or to buy something else. ... show more

  • Decent, but not long lasting

  • All good except not lasting long
Color: Black Size: 7 Port
I bought mine on April 2022, everything is good until one port was dead since last week, roughly one year. Noticed as my mic all at sudden not working, and changed to another port worked. Now it is a USB 3.0 6-port HUB, luckily I have max 6 devices attach to it, including a USB stick which used occasionally, so I can still live with it. ... show more

  • Causes USB Problems on my Desktop (No clue how/why)
Color: Black Size: 4 Port
I purchased this to allow me to connect four Oculus Rift sensors to my desktop. While it seems to do that job alright, I have experienced a very weird issue: It completely disables all my USB ports prior to getting into an operating system. I have no idea why this is, but it means I am unable to even select which OS on my dual boot system I want to boot into since my keyboard, which isn't even on this USB hub, doesn't work. (I have a PS/2 keyboard plugged in now for this.) This is extremely weird. If I have the hub unplugged, the system works fine. If I unplug everything from the hub, so that only the hub is plugged in, it still has issues. (So it's not the sensors or the powered USB cables I'm using.) I also checked to see if this USB hub was backfeeding power into my desktop, something a lot of cheap powered USB hubs do. I did this simply by plugging it into an old Raspberry Pi, which when backfed power, boots up. This did not boot it up. This means no power is being backfed by this USB hub. (Which is a very good thing typically as this can potentially cause damage to the host computer.) So, I'm really at a loss for why this happens. I'd be curious to know whether anyone else has had this issue, and if so, with what device. The motherboard I am using this with is an Asrock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer. And I've never had any other weird issues like this. So maybe my desktop has some kind of intolerance, but it does seem like something is not quite right with this hub to trigger that. tl;dr: Hub seems to be well built, and does NOT backfeed power, which is good. But for some reason it causes issues with my desktop that are problematic. ... show more
