This line of Cyber Power UPS works for about 5 years. After that the internal battery is unable to ride it through power surges. So long as you know that, it is a relatively inexpensive protection for all your computer stuff.

Seems to be a quality unit...I needed a higher capacity for my old Windows home server and one other PC. Plenty of outlets. My only rub is the UPS software doesn't seem to run on my ancient WHS. Right now, it's not configured to shut down the server, but at least short outages should be easily handled. Also, it was reasonably priced and compact sized.

I bought the Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup and Surge Protector, 600VA/360W, and so far it has been working great. It feels solid, is compact, and gives me extra peace of mind for keeping my electronics protected during power outages or short power flickers. I also have another one of these units, and so far so good with that one as well. I have even simulated power outages to test it, and everything worked great. Setup was simple, the outlets are useful, and it does exactly what I needed it to do. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. If anything fails or I run into any problems later, I will come back and update this review.

Item description is in its name - Basic. I have two - one dedicated to my Terramaster NAS and the other dedicated to my desktop PC. The user manual is helpful in setup and operation of the units. The software they tell you to download is free, but sketchy and not easy to use. My Windows 11 complained when I tried to install and use it; first I had to make an exception just to run the setup, then I had to make an exception to run the software; the software runs from a web browser and windows didn't like its certificate credentials. I ditched that software and downloaded CyperPower's Power Panel Personal software - also free for a single UPS. You can use their Cloud service for a very modest fee for personal use. Their software is a stand alone app, so no browser needed. The units themselves only have a USB port for communication. I have one plugged in to my PC and can monitor it anytime. The one for my NAS is plugged into one of its USB ports, but I don't have the same ability to monitor the UPS; Terramaster's software will alert me of power outages and lost communication, so that'll have to do. I've noticed other UPS systems have multiple ports for communication, so again - these UPS's are "Basic". I haven't seen them in action yet other than unplugging them while everything is running, but they seem to do the trick. They're also line interactive - they can "smooth out" minor power fluctuations without switching to the battery. I bought mine because we have weird power surges and outages that only seem to affect my immediate neighborhood - not often, but enough. Storm and weather outages are in addition to that. The UPS software has the ability to safely power down a connected PC when it switches to battery for a user defined amount of time. My Terramaster NAS software does the same, but on it's own accord - no configuration interface that I know of. I rated 4 stars because of the sketchy, browser based software. These UPS's are basic, but I knew what I was getting when I bought them and they're are doing the job. One last thing - Amazon shipped them separately and they were both shipped upside down in the shipping box. I sent them back because of that (and Amazon dropped the price after my purchase). The replacements they sent were also shipped upside down and the driver laid them on their sides to boot.

I never gave a 1 before, bt this product quite simply has a long history of failure. I researched it on ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini. The battery fails within a month & then it is rendered useless. Do not buy this product. Spend the money to buy a proper UPS: If your Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (400VA/255W) isn’t holding power when the electricity goes out, it means the unit isn’t supplying backup power as it should. There are several possible reasons — some simple to fix, and others that indicate a hardware limitation or failure. Here are the most common causes and what you can check: ✅ 1. Battery Is Dead or Bad The most frequent cause of a UPS not holding power is a worn-out or failed internal battery. Why this happens UPS batteries are sealed lead-acid (SLA) and wear out over time (usually 3–5 years). If the UPS was stored discharged for a long time, the battery may be permanently damaged. Even new units can have a defective battery. What to check Press the power/test button — does it beep or indicate battery status? Some models flash an error code if the battery is bad. If available, check the battery replacement indicator. Solution: Replace the UPS battery (if the model allows it). For this Amazon Basics unit, replacement batteries are typically inexpensive and the case can open to swap the battery. ✅ 2. I just received this UPS, so I can't comment on battery life. I got the 800VA/450W, 12 Outlets. It uses a 12V 9Ah battery that is very common and inexpensive, so when the original battery dies, it should be easy to find a replacement. I love that it has so many outlets, 6 with battery backup and 6 with only surge protection. I have many electronics connected, and this avoids using additional power strips. The main purpose of buying this UPS was to protect my QNAP TS-230 NAS during power outage. This is an entry level two bays file server. I wasn't sure if it would support communication with UPS backup battery. The QNAP manual for this model does not mention anything about connecting to UPS. I received the UPS and charged it overnight before connecting anything to it. It came with a USB A to B cable. The QNAP TS-230 has 3 USB ports: one is USB 2.0 speed and two are USB 3.0 speed. The USB 3.0 are designed for external drives to expand the capacity of the file server, so I figured I should connect the USB cable from the UPS to the USB 2.0 port on the back of QNAP. I turned the UPS on, waited a few seconds for it to come online and plugged the QNAP to one of the battery backup outlets. Next I turned on the QNAP. It takes about 5 minutes to boot. When I heard the second beep that indicates it's ready, I logged in into the QNAP from my computer. After a few seconds, a window appeared that an external device (CPS ABST800) was detected. I clicked on "View external storage settings" and it brought me to Control Panel>External Device>UPS. Here it showed the UPS manufacturer (CPS), the model (ABST800), the battery capacity and the estimated protection time. On this screen you can configure what the QNAP should do in case of power outage. I set it to turn off the NAS after 3 minutes of power outage. Next tested the setup: I unplugged the UPS from the wall. It started beeping every few seconds to indicate that it's running on battery. After 3 minutes on battery power, the NAS started an orderly shutdown process. After a few minutes, it shutdown completely. Perfect! As someone else mentioned, this UPS is manufactured by CyberPower, which is ubiquitous. This is an advantage in my opinion, because more clients are likely to support it than a smaller brand. For anyone that owns a QNAP NAS and is debating whether this UPS will work with it, it probably will.

i built a PC and i work from home, staying connected to the internet at all times is very important fore me. more importantly is making sure that my PC stays on and does not randomly shut off at any moment, causing me to lose all unsaved work this product helps protect against that from happening unlike a laptop that has a built in battery, a PC does not, so if your home power goes out, that's it. it's game over. your entire PC shuts down with your power, no running off battery, no nothing however, if you plug your PC into this product, then if your power goes out, you're pretty much safe. at least for 5-10 minutes just today i was working and then randomly the electricity went out in my apartment. all my appliances shut off around me. this doesn't happen often, maybe like once a year. when this did happen, my computer was still running and i was still connected to the internet. everything was shutting off around me, yet i was still able to continue working on my PC as if nothing was happening a couple of minutes go by, and the electricity turns back on. i didn't even notice it was gone because i was so focused on work not only does this keep my PC powered on during outages, my internet stays on too. i didn't lose internet at all, everything was continuing to run smoothly as i've mentioned before though, this power only lasts about 5-10 minutes if you've got a PC plugged in. the PC draws quite a bit of power, so this back up battery can't last much long. but the point of me using this in the first place is so that if power gets interrupted, i have a back up that can bridge the gap. the outages i get last only a couple of minutes. i just need protection during that random abrupt hit, i don't need protection for hours this product has served me well
