Around two weeks ago my fiancé and I came from Brazil bringing 2 cats. I planned each detail of this trip TRUSTING Amazon and its products as I have been a customer for years now. I planned each detail because I wanted my fiancé experience to be the best as possible as this is her first time in the US and I wanted our cats to be as comfortable as possible given that an oversees trip is difficult for them but we would NEVER leave our pets behind. They are our kids. I was so happy that after 3 years living apart we would finally be reunited here. All this planning fell apart on the 1st hour of a 10 hour flight from Rio to Atlanta when this bag size LARGE ripped off on our cats first attempt to get out (when we had clipped his nails). He simply made 2 holes on the bag easily. Can you imagine if that happened in the middle of the airport? On the street? They had just served dinner and when I am about to eat I see my cat getting out of the bag and about to run. Needless to say I was in panic! My first reaction us to throw my food and drink in the air and run to grab him before he went running on the plane. I had food and beer all over my jeans but I was able to grab him. I just didn’t know what to do next. We had a 9 hours flight ahead of us, one connection in Atlanta where we would need to get all our luggage, go through immigration and security check to get another 2 hours flight and I had one cat in my arms. If he made a hole in the bag 1 hour before we would have to leave him behind. We wouldn’t be able to travel without a bag. In the middle of an anxiety attack, my fiancé quickly thought about using our blankets to wrap the bag. The problem was that the cat was still trying to get through it so we had to wrap it with 2 blankets and hold it in our arms all the way from Brazil here. The experience was the WORST of our lives. My family and I have been traveling internationally for over 30 years and we never had such an experience. Amazon ruined our trip. We had several anxiety attacks and there was no place to go thousands of miles in the air. If it wasn’t for Delta’s incredible customer service, specially Marcos de Jesus, we would have a break down. He was the most incredible human and did everything to calm us down during all those hours. After we arrived in Atlanta we had to get all our luggage, go through immigration, go through security and be questioned a million time why we were carrying a bag wrapped in blankets (for security purposes). Then we had another 2 hour flight. When we arrived my cat spent 3 days under the bed. That’s how stressful and uncomfortable the trip was for him. We basically couldn’t feed him food or water for over 12 hours due to the fact he could simply run over the plane or airport. Amazon should RECALL ALL BAGS because this is clearly a security issue, risking our cats lives and our health due to the stress we went through. I’d like to know what Amazon has to say about it and look forward to what Amazon will do about it.

This carrier is very nice. It has a front opening and a top opening which makes it very handy to get kitty out. inside there is a hook so kitty can be secured inside so that when you open doors he can't just run out until you release him. The bottom is stiff and supports body. There is a washable fleecy material on the bottom that may comfort kitty and help prevent slipping around. The carring straps are very sturdy and wrap completely around the carrier so there is no fear it could tear over time. I gave it 5 stars because it is a good quality carrier and my cat actually likes being in it. My cat weighs 10 lbs. and he fits in very nicely - see photo.

I was taking my 5-year-old-to-be 19lbs schnauzer to Europe for her birthday and shopping for a good travel carrier that she would actually go in and remain inside. She's a support dog so she's never been in any carrier during US domestic travels and she's been pretty much everywhere in the US. However, while she is allowed to travel in cabin w/o being inside of a carrier, she's required to have tickets when we ride trains together. The cost is about $37 a day, quite hefty. However, as long as she remains in a bag or basket then she rides for free. Before I ended up getting this carrier, i tried at least two other types from Amazon, both are the backpack type and failed. She would fight her life not going in, let along stay in. Finally, came across this crate carrier and was complete life saver, arrived really quickly and surprisingly sturdy as hell. Took about 2 tries to get her go in and quickly became comfortable with it. She would even go in on her own, waiting for treat. The crate has a very firm base and very comfy to sit in. It’s very lightweight and spacious to use as a travel bag when she doesn’t need to be inside. So I ended up using it as my overnighter a lot on this trip. I ran into people at the airport carrying exactly the same bag. This thing rocks, and way underpriced. I paid $28 for it and I believe it should’ve been double the cost considering the material and quality of this bag. Highly recommended.

After trying SEVERAL pet carriers, I finally found one that fits my 16.8lb Bichon/Westie Mix dog for air travel. We are relocating across country and can't let our precious pup fly cargo in the dead of summer. By far the cheapest priced bag and the ONLY one that fit my guy. A smidge snug, but definitely do-able!

I love AmazonBasics pet carriers! I have one for my cat and I bought a small one for my bunny. I love that it has two openings, one on the side and one on top so it allows you to put your animal in whichever way is comfortable for you and your pet. For my cats, I love the zip top because I just plop them in and zip up after them. For my bunny I use the side entrance because she just hops in. Another feature that I truly love is the mesh sides. My one cat has really bad initial anxiety in the carrier and is always trying to scratch at it. My bunny, too, scratches at it. So far it has yet to budge, but only time will tell. The only feature I didn't particularly like is that the fleece liner that comes with it isn't as sturdy as the actual carrier. The one in my cat carrier has been torn at, and my bunny demolished the one in her carrier the minute I put her in. But that's not a problem with the product, and instead I simply put in a blanket she doesn't tear at.

We bought this before flying cross country to pick up our golden retriever puppy. He fit in it perfectly! The carrier fits nicely under an airplane seat as well. All in all a great carrier for the occasional trip.
