This is hands-down the best budget mattress. I recently purchased 10 budget mattresses for a vacation home. The brands include Amazon basic, Ashley signature design, Zinus green tea, vibe gel, and Allswell. Hands-down Amazon basic was the best mattress. Allswell is a very comfortable mattress but it is twice the price is the Amazon basic. If I had to do it all over again I would buy all Amazon basic mattresses for my whole house. What I like about Amazon basic mattress. First let me say I don’t know anything about mattresses- the density foam or any of that stuff, but I I know what a good night sleep feels like on a nice mattress. The Amazon basic is soft, but not too soft. It Is a medium firmness mattress. It’s not a pillow top but it feels like tmakers put a soft layer on top and it gives you a good night sleep. That top layer on the Amazon basic is the main difference between the green tea, vibe gel, and Ashley mattresses. Those are firm and you do not sink into them like you do with the Amazon basic. My son sleeps on the green tea mattress and he hates it; he says that you can only fall asleep on that mattress when you’re dead tired. When Amazon has their prime day I am buying him the Amazon basic mattress. My sister-in-law stayed in the room with the vibe gel and I asked her how her sleep was and she said I’m still breaking in the mattress. In other words that’s a hard mattress. The Allswell mattress is a very good mattress, but it is a little too soft for my taste. the Amazon basic is a little bit firmer but still soft. Additionally the Allswell mattress was twice as much If I had to rank order my mattresses of the ones that I bought they would be: 1. Amazon basic 2. Allswell (too soft) 3. Vibe Gel (those who like a firm mattress) 4. Signature design by Ashley (meh) 5. Zinus Green tea (feels sleeping a rug with a premium padding)

Purchased the King, 12 inch mattress in Medium firmness approximately 1 year ago, and here are my insights: This is a great mattress for the price! This sucker is HEAVY, so you better have two people to move it and arrange it when the mattress arrives. Give it the full 48 hours to expand... when we unwrapped it, it did have a strong chemical smell to it, but we gave it the 48 hour recommended time to expand before using it, and the smell dissipated on its own without any extra work. I do NOT love a firm bed, and I feel this mattress is a little more firm than I expected it to be as a Medium (that's why the 4 stars instead of 5). That said, it is still very comfortable and I get a good nights sleep. It wasn't overly firm enough for me to go trough the hassle to return it, and honestly, if my mattress were to catch fire tomorrow and I needed to purchase a new one, I would probably buy this again, because I know it's comfortable and the quality is great. A year later of my husband and I laying in the same spots hasn't led to any breakdown or denting in the mattress. I do HIGHLY recommend a bug-proof and waterproof cover for it, I added one the first night after the 48 hour expansion period was over, and it has zero stains or wear, and still looks and feels brand new after 365 days of 2 adults and 2 dogs sleeping on it every night.

I did alot of research prior to buying this mattress. I had a previous Zinus mattress that was good for about 5 years until I started waking up with worse body aches than I had the night before. I discovered in a Reddit thread that the Amazon basic mattress is made by Brooklyn Bedding, a very reputable company. I have slept on this mattress for 4 nights now and I am not waking up with body aches. The cooling affect is minimal but I'm menopausal and I do think my night sweats have lessened some. This mattress is much firmer than I was expecting but I think that works for me. I let it expand in the floor for about 48 hours and then on the bed frame for another 12, I think the 48 hours would have been enough. I have a metal bed frame with slats and I did add a bunkie board underneath for even more support. As of now, I am very pleased with this mattress. If that changes, I will update. It did have a slight smell when we unboxed it but that seems to have went away or I got used to it. My husband and I are fairly short people. I'm 5'3 and he's 5'5. I'm about 170 and he's 185. Not sure if size of people makes any difference.

Really a great mattress. I was skeptical, it's not expensive, comes rolled up (!), but it's easily one of the most comfortable mattresses I've ever slept on. Recommended by my son-in-law who's used these mattresses for years and they don't wear out.
