This is my review for: AmazonBasics Cooling Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress, 12-Inch, Queen Unboxing: I was super excited to receive the mattress, but when it showed up, I got a bit worried. It weighs about 75 lbs. and it looked like every single UPS person that handled it must have taken their frustration out on it. The box was beaten, torn, and filthy. I would not want to drag it inside on a nice carpet. I cut open the cardboard box outside on the porch so that the nasty cardboard wouldn't be inside. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the mattress inside was in perfect condition. The mattress itself is of course vacuum packed and then it had a generous wrapping of heavy duty stretch wrap on top of that. I carried the perfectly wrapped mattress inside. Getting it ready to use: I got it all unwrapped and laid it out flat and cut open the bag along all the edges. It started to puff up immediately. It was fun to watch it grow into a full-sized mattress in about 5 minutes. The instructions mention that it can take up to 72 hours to inflate, but in my experience, it took considerably less. I would say it was to 90pct of its height within an hour or two, and fully expanded within 24 hours. I would say it is quite conceivable that you could unpack it during the day and sleep on it that night. I was a bit concerned that the mattress, like any man-made foam product would have some smell but was I ever pleasantly surprised. Immediately after opening it there was little to near zero smell with my face literally buried in it. One of my nephews swore that it smelled faintly like chocolate but the rest of us could detect nothing. Using it: My sister-in-law who will be using it the most, since this is for the guest bedroom has only slept on it a few nights now, but she is completely in love with it. Other Thoughts: When looking at this mattress price versus performance to this point, this one is a bargain. I will come back and update the review if there are any problems in the near future, but as of right now this is a solid 5-star mattress for sure. It also supports local economy as it is an amazing product proudly made in the USA. Update: Over a year has passed and I am still very pleased with this mattress. This mattress is still amazing and the sample size is bigger now. My sister-in-law slept in it for a bit over a month, and my sister slept in it for about a week when she came over. Additionally, my wife and I slept in it for about a week, when my mom came over to visit. Those are a bunch of thumbs up, thus we definitely recommend it!

This mattress is more of a medium firm mattress. I don't like firm mattresses. I dream of getting a pillowy type that makes me feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud. This one is not like it. But I gave it a try since the mattress I had had been horrible since day one causing me to wake up with body pain. I haven't really slept in about 5 years. I toss and turn and go to ther bathroom like 5 times during the night. The first night I slept on the bed I noticed that my back didn't hurt and even thigh I couldn't sleep wondering if the bed was good enough I noticed my back wasn't aching. I went to get up in the morning and I was able to get up with no problem and that's when I noticed my body wasn't aching. The second night was ok. I'm still trying to get used to it being a bit firmer than I wanted it to be. The third night I told myself to really give it a chance since my back wasn't hurting, which is how I gauge a bed. I went to sleep around 10:30 pm. I woke up once because my cat was so hot, but I immediately went back to sleep. I woke up again at 6 a.m. from a dream. I haven't felt like I've dreamt in what felt like a million years since I haven't had ther opportunity of ever having a deep sleep in 5 to 6 years! I realized that I actually had a deep sleep and didn't get up to go to the bathroom all night!!!! I thought I would sink into the bed and that didn't happen. It's been easy getting out of bed. I'm a heavy set person. The bed has a slight give. Overall, I have been dreaming of ine day being able to sleep and it seems I've finally have it. I think at this time it's more important than getting that pillow type of bed. I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase and I'm a very picky person. Adding: recommended the bed to my mom who has issues with her back and legs and she loves it. She's finally sleeping better.

My stats: 6'1" 200lbs pinched spinal column, sciatic nerve impingement, poor sleeper, hot sleeper Absolutely LOVE this matress. When it arrived it was well packaged. Upon opening I had doubts it would expand fully. Took it to an open room and cut open vacuum sealed bag. Bed started expanding rapidly. A few hours later and it looked completely expanded but I followed the directions and waited. 72 hours later it was ready. I pressed on the top of the bed and I was worried, it felt stiff almost hard. I then laid on it and my worries went away as it formed around me beautifully. It is firm but very comfortable. The initial smell of plastic was almost completely gone. The first night I we slept on it I did not wake once during the night and awoke feeling really good. I have a bad back and since sleeping on this mattress I have noticed that I awaken with less back pain and stiffness. I am sleeping a lot better also. The gel top on this mattress is amazing as it keeps a nice cool layer even if you stay in the same spot for a long time. When summer comes I see this being a HUGE plus. Pros: Firm but giving, cooling, even firmness over the entire surface area, smell fades within days Cons: Honestly none as of yet I will update in a month or two. 4 month update: Looks and feels brand new. No dents, soft/hard spots, and no signs of wear or breakdown. We live in western Pennsylvania and it has been in the 90s during the day and 68-72 at night. The beds gel layer has been a Godsend. I go to bed 2-3 hours after my wife and when I sit and then lay down she never knows. My back has been better in these last 3 months than it has been in years. 1 year update: Still looks brand new. No bowing or drooping areas. Every night the wife and I get in it feels like the first night we slept on it. This mattress has literally helped me get the best sleep in the last year than I have in 20+ years of having a bad back.
