First issue for me or anyone with neuropathy. The Chain is very hard to grasp. Also, the instructions either written an employee of the company or translated from Chinese make no sense. Get an enlargement of the pictures and you will figure it out. Your grind needs to be espresso or Turkish coffee grind. Don’t start out with a ton of coffee. Also, 5 cups of coffee is about a demitasse cup, not an American mug. The spring on the filter has a little hook that goes over the edge of the glass pipe. This is what holds the filter in place.

Low price, but works perfect for coffee that brews at high temperatures. For coffee that extracts idealy at lower temperatures I recommend pour over makers. The vacuum process can only work at boiling. Also, a butane heater is much more convenient and efficient than the supplied alcohol burner. I use a water heating kettle to preheat the water thus making the process quicker. Otherwise, you must wait for your heater to get the water up to boiling temp.

I like syphon coffee and have been using the electric one for a few year. I order this one to see if it can replace the electric one. The answer is NO. I learned about this and boiled water before put in this. Still, it took forever to get the water back to boiling and starting to move to the upper container. Not recommend to use the alcohol burner unless you have a lot of time to wait.
