I make rustic flags with my Shapeoko XL CNC router. When I started I went all out and bought Amana bits, only to have them break due to my own errors. This led me to buying super cheap bits and they got the job done and I didn't cringe when they broke. Recently I've seen this new type of bit and was pretty surprised to see it was at such a low price. When I looked up that replacement blades were only a few bucks, I decided to give it a try. I've done about 10 jobs so far and have been very surprised at the precision and cleanliness of the cuts. I mainly use pine panel boards so it's pretty soft wood running at 47ipm (inch per minute). I will probably increase the speed, but I am still getting a feel for it. Overall I would highly recommend this but. Great price and quality material. ... show more

Best V-bit I've tried so far! Super clean cut regardless of wood hardness. Nice clean cuts on Oramask perfect for V-carve painted projects. Looking forward to many hours of use out of this.

This cutter really is a gem of a bargain when it comes to replaceable knife cutters. The 45711 uses the most common and affordable replacement knives Amana sells. The cutter is unbelievably sharp and accurate, with an effective width of cut of .668". I have attached a video of the tool cutting very fine detail in pine (and through masking), one of the most difficult materials to get clean sharp lines in. It is important to know that although this appears to be a two flute bit, it is not. The knife is offset half a mm to one side, effectively making it a single flute cutter. Because of this, you need to double your spindle speed from a typical double flute cutter. The advantage is one knife gives you four cutting edges. I have had no issues with balance that others have reported. Simply hold the knife to the right side when tightening. Great, inexpensive cutter. Update 09/20/2019 I will also add that the cutter is phenomenal in aluminum as well., Even gives a great bottom finish with a 4% stepover ... show more

Just used this bit for the first time. Worked perfectly with the feed and speed stated on the paperwork that came with the bit. This was a huge upgrade for my CNC router. My old bit would leave ridges inside the v-groove and I figured it was a limitation of my CNC. But with this bit I now realize it was just a limitation of the bit I was using. Product is good quality and performed as well as a 2 cutter product might. If you need a nice smooth surface you might want to consider a product with additional cutting surfaces. The cut with this product served the purpose I needed and the price was reasonable but cut surface comes out a bit rough. You should expect that with only to cutting surfaces.
