  • Good replacement for existing Pet Safe installation.
Nice door. I bought this to replace a 20 year old Pet Safe Classic XL - because it is becoming next to impossible to find replacement flaps. Pet Safe changed the design from the multi lug slide in flap to an external screw on flap. The old design was much more elegant and durable. I guess the redesign made it cheaper and more profitable - and was done on purpose for force old buyers to buy a replacement frame and the newer cheaper flaps. Not me! Anyway I bought this flap and modified it. For one thing I only need one flap - not two flaps. So I removed the external flap from the frame and now I have a spare. It was easy to do as the frame is put together like a quality picture frame - with screw down "L" connectors. I intend to buy a couple more doors just for the flaps. The other thing I changed was how the dog door is mounted to the house door. The old Pet Safe door used external screws - not the goofy pop rivet design that this door would have you use. So I bought some 1 1/2" black oxide pan head screws and attached both sides of the door with screws (you have to of course drill holes in the frame). So it is now easily removable for flap replacement. Flaps will wear and they will need replacement - it's only a matter of when - not if. This door will fit a cut out made for a Pet Safe classic - but you will need a couple of 1/2" shims at the top and bottom. The shims are just fillers - and the bottom one is more important than the top one. It's really just a question of positioning the door in the existing hole so that the frame of the new door covers the opening cut for the old Pet Safe door. The new Pet Safe door is a piece of junk. This door gives you a quality fix. ... show more

  • Contact the seller for replacement
my only complaint was the slaps came off easily, but if you contact the seller, they have a link where you can buy replacements and they’re not expensive as cheaper than replacing the whole door

  • Overall, decent quality.
Waiting to hear back from manufacturer. Was hoping this would last longer than 6 months for the price we paid. Installed it about 3 months ago when we got the new door put in. The magnets were super strong at first. The dogs had a slight difficulty pushing through the flaps, but they soon got the hang of it. Its not their first dog door, so they knew how to use it. About a week ago we noticed the part where the flap connects to the frame was becoming weak and worn, now today the exterior flap was laying on the ground outside. The inside flap is close to coming off also. I contacted the seller's customer service asking about a replacement flap because I wasn't able to find replacements on their website, but for the price, they should have lasted longer than they have. So waiting for a response. Maybe leaving this review will kick it into gear. I will modify my review accordingly. Overall the frame was easy to install. The flaps, other than becoming worn quickly, sealed the door perfectly to prevent a large amount of drafts from coming in. We have had the entire assembly that holds the flaps break on other dog doors, this one has held up, it was the flaps this time, so they're replaceable instead of having to buy an entirely new assembly. ... show more

Product came fast and we installed it on a metal secruity door.. Its was working great since we have 4 dogs, 2 cats and 1 chicken that uses it. We bought in april and it started ripping in nov side then the other and by Dec it fell off. I contacted the seller and he is sending us a replacement. This is not the only dog door my guys use. We have one on the back also. The back door gets a lot of sun but the one the ripped dose not. I thought it was good and sturdy and would last if not after the replacement I will just keep looking for another flap until I find one that dose not rip so soon. ... show more

  • Lightweight flap, making it good for all animals
Easy to swap out our old one with this one. We had the old one 8 years and finally decided it was time to get them a new one. We went with this one because the weight of the flap was less than the old one and our cat also uses it when we fall to let him in the front door so he walks around and comes through the door but now that he's getting older, I can see when he hesitates before coming in and I know that pushing the old one open was getting harder. This for had some really good reviews but for the most part once we confirmed the size, the weight of the flap was the biggest factor. Switching them out was easy. Doesn't really take long at all and the dogs used it immediately. ... show more

  • Great Doggy Door.
This is a very good door, big for my shepherd dog to go in and out with ease, also not hard to install and the double flaps keep the air conditioning inside the house and dirt and bugs outside, material is good and hardware and instructions easy to use, I'll post a picture of the door before and the one after. ... show more

  • Closing panel is made out of cheap plastic that keeps breaking. The seller provided a full refund.
The door itself is very finely made. Very big and easy for my dogs to use. Too small for cats, but that is an added bonus for me. What I find issue with is the closing panel, which is a sheet of plastic covered in aluminum. The closing panel gets stuck in the door and if you pull on it too hard, you'll destroy the handle which is only held on by two screws. I am in my third time of repairing this closing panel in 3 months. It is horrendous. I've had to use epoxy to fill in the cracks around the handle, and most recently, the screw has completely stripped the inside of the handle. Terrible product. I can't believe they let it out the door this way. If you don't need to lock your dog door, this will be good for you. I live in a neighborhood where it is necessary. If you're the same, steer clear. EDIT (6-21-25) : My critiques of the door's materials (and making) still stand. However, the team that sold the door has reached out to me and given me a full refund. They have provided excellent customer service, and deserve to be known for having done such. Perhaps it was simply my one door that was very easily broken, but a full refund is a full refund, and you can't as for much better than that. I am changing this review from a 2 star to a 3 in response to such excellent service. ... show more
