This is one of the best car receivers I've ever bought. I love Alpine. The installation went well, sounds GREAT! even with out EQ. But it has one in the receiver you can use. Blu-tooth works, I was able to add phone contacts and make a call. You may have to adjust the MIC, a little sensitive. The USB works, with Audio and if you install a bypass for Video, it works as well. ... show more

    • Camera installation is not DIY friendly
Changed my rating from 2 stars to 1 star when I also discovered the camera wire is only 15' long. Not anywhere close to long enough for my truck. This does NOT come with any sort of license plate bracket to help mount the camera. This complicates the camera installation so it is not DIY friendly unless you can find and buy some other license plate bracket that will fit the camera. The screen glare is absolutely terrible. And due to the angle it is mounted in the dash, wearing polarized sunglasses blocks the screen out. The stereo seems to function well so far and it has adequate power output. ... show more

    • Backup Camera Disappoints
The backup camera does not have backup guides, much less active backup guides. The backup camera does not have an adjustable angle (it is fixed) and requires an "under" mount. I am wanting to install it on my truck, and it does not have a cove surface to mount this underneath. I can't use the backup camera in this bundle, not even as a cargo camera looking into the bed (again, no cove to mount under). I have had to order a different backup camera. They should probably bundle the stereo with a more "universal fit" camera & bracket system. I will update with a review on the Alpine iLX-W650 after I install the unit and test it. ... show more

Don’t like the fact that there wasn’t a parking brake bypass. I had to spend more money for it. Heads up would’ve been nice.

    • Sound quality and form factor are great but display is washed out.
The price is really good for what you get. The sound quality is good and I like this form factor better than any other head unit that supports android auto. What I don't like is that the screen is simply not crisp. Everything seems washed out and not nearly as vibrant as even an old cell phone. Seems that there is no fix for this issue other than upgrading to the ilx-507 which is HD. Would be fine for me but I really like the minimalism of the ilx-w650. Just wish the screen was at least as vibrant as my s8. Also, the ilx-507 has blue keys on it that are not changeable which would clash with the green gauges of my truck. Overall, I do recommend as long as you don't mind a washed out screen. My fingers are crossed that alpine comes out with the exact form factor of the ilx-w650 but with an HD screen. I wouldn't be able to give them my money fast enough. ... show more
