The iLX-W650 has a simple swipe interface with an ultra-shallow chassis that can mount to the KTA-450 Power Pack Amplifier (sold separately), creating Alpine’s award-winning PowerStack application.SIMPLE TO USEThe new swipe control interface is designed for easy use, so you can keep your eyes on the road. A two-finger swipe motion moving up, down, left, or right will control volume up or down and track skip forward or back. The two-finger swipe can be done anywhere on the touch screen, so you don’t need to swipe on a specific location.SHALLOW DESIGN WITH POWERSTACK COMPATIBILITY The iLX-W650’s shallow chassis is only 2.4” deep, so it fits into vehicles that don’t have a lot of depth behind the dashboard. This shallow design makes the iLX-W650 a perfect complement with the KTA-450 Power Pack Amplifier (sold separately). The amplifier measures just 7” W x 3.5” H x 1.25” D and fits in the open space behind the iLX-W650 using the included bracket, creating the PowerStack design. The total combined depth of the iLX-W650, KTA-450, and mounting bracket is still less than the depth of a standard 2-DIN chassis. My 2008 gmc sierra crew cab already had alpine s series 6.5 door speakers. I also already had a alpine v12 amp with two 10 inch jl audio subs. The new alpine ilx-650w head unit with the kta 450 amp combo (replaced a weak jvc unit) woke my old quiet system up. Now its a screaming beast. Nice two have the front and rear back up cameras also.     • True Quality, Alpine never disappoints!
First off the little backpack amp this thing comes with does way more than you may anticipate. Second the radio itself is rather dope, car play & Android auto are always glitchy and work irregular at best, but that's no fault of alpine. over all i say 4.6 out of 5 only reason is it has quite a slow delay in the touch screen features. ... show more

    • Do your research, be wary buying aftermarket harness and included kta-450
I am by no means a professional car audio installer. This head unit has good reviews across the board and I've had alpine in the past that I've liked. I'm still not sure how to feel about this one. Lots of little things I don't like. The worst thing about this unit is subwoofer compatibility. I, and lots of others from the looks of it, have to turn the subwoofer setting to the max (15/15) to get a good bass level. Second, I feel for having a "plug and play" amplifier there are lots of connections that should "plug and play." There are still some wires you have to splice to get them to work together even when they are sold as a kit. The radio claims to have 4x50w outputs. So does the included amp. Should have just got the radio by itself. The amplifier works good otherwise once you figure it all out. DO NOT BUY axxess harness for this radio for ram 1500/2500/3500!!! Multiple wires don't work (accessory, parking brake) and I would have been better off splicing the OEM harness! Parking brake bypass is a MUST. For $15 on ebay you can get a microbypass. Otherwise prepare to stop on the side of the road a lot to pair your phone or adjust your eq. Has good advanced settings for audiophiles. Easy settings for quick tuning. ... show more

    • Terrific sound and value!
The sound is terrific, the controls are intuitive and this was easy to install. The only complaint I have is that it sometimes freezes up using car play, requiring the iPhone to be disconnected and then reconnected. Maybe a future firmware upgrade will correct this.

    • Disappointed in head unit
Head unit doesn’t turn off amp when you turn unit off. As soon as Ignition is on it has a lot of noise coming through amp because head unit will not turn off remote wire so there is constant speaker noise it’s vary annoying.

    • The amp is junk!
Good interface, but the amp itself is junk. Paired it with new Focal brand speakers and ALWAYS heard static in the background. Thought it was interference at first, but after troubleshooting it back to the unit and returning it for a kenwood, no more static. In fact my speakers sound much clearer and they have punchy bass that wasn’t there with the pioneer, night and day difference! I was blown away. My friend bought this same pioneer and i hear the static in his system too. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more for a quality head unit. ... show more

I added this to a 2009 Toyota Corolla LE because I wanted to stream Spotify and have Google Maps display for directions and (after getting the windows tinted) saw this unit at the audio/tint shop I use. They were out of stock, but I found it on Amazon in a package with the excellent rear-mounted amp which really enhances the sound through (get this) factory speakers! As for install, I had my shop do it for me and they did an excellent job. The instructions are clear, setup is a breeze, and the sound is awesome! Price ain't bad either. The photo sounds the excellent install job from Audio Itch in Tampa; the amp slots into the rear of the unit, out of sight - out of mind! ... show more
