My 2008 gmc sierra crew cab already had alpine s series 6.5 door speakers. I also already had a alpine v12 amp with two 10 inch jl audio subs. The new alpine ilx-650w head unit with the kta 450 amp combo (replaced a weak jvc unit) woke my old quiet system up. Now its a screaming beast. Nice two have the front and rear back up cameras also.     • Terrific sound and value!
The sound is terrific, the controls are intuitive and this was easy to install. The only complaint I have is that it sometimes freezes up using car play, requiring the iPhone to be disconnected and then reconnected. Maybe a future firmware upgrade will correct this.

    • Do your research, be wary buying aftermarket harness and included kta-450
I am by no means a professional car audio installer. This head unit has good reviews across the board and I've had alpine in the past that I've liked. I'm still not sure how to feel about this one. Lots of little things I don't like. The worst thing about this unit is subwoofer compatibility. I, and lots of others from the looks of it, have to turn the subwoofer setting to the max (15/15) to get a good bass level. Second, I feel for having a "plug and play" amplifier there are lots of connections that should "plug and play." There are still some wires you have to splice to get them to work together even when they are sold as a kit. The radio claims to have 4x50w outputs. So does the included amp. Should have just got the radio by itself. The amplifier works good otherwise once you figure it all out. DO NOT BUY axxess harness for this radio for ram 1500/2500/3500!!! Multiple wires don't work (accessory, parking brake) and I would have been better off splicing the OEM harness! Parking brake bypass is a MUST. For $15 on ebay you can get a microbypass. Otherwise prepare to stop on the side of the road a lot to pair your phone or adjust your eq. Has good advanced settings for audiophiles. Easy settings for quick tuning. ... show more

The amplifier works great but the subwoofer sound from radio did not work at all. Have always used alpine and this is the first time I have been let down by one of the products.

    • True Quality, Alpine never disappoints!
First off the little backpack amp this thing comes with does way more than you may anticipate. Second the radio itself is rather dope, car play & Android auto are always glitchy and work irregular at best, but that's no fault of alpine. over all i say 4.6 out of 5 only reason is it has quite a slow delay in the touch screen features. ... show more
