I have a Dometic 12 volt fridge in my home-on-wheels, but I wanted a freezer. As I am not having any issues with my five year old Dometic I figured it was worth adding a small 12 V freezer, since I had the space, versus purchasing and all in one fridge/freezer combo. Plus the price was right on the Alpicool. Does it work, YES! Is there a difference in “quality” between Dometic and Alpicool, of course. The two main cons, in my opinion…1. The Alpicool sweats, A LOT! I had to put the freezer on a plastic boot mat to catch the condensation, as the sides have actual beads of sweat and ice buildup and it creates a small puddle of water under the unit. As a side note, the ambient temps run around 80°F in my camper and I keep the fridge/freezer set to 20°F. 2. The temperature is set to 20 but the temperature read out will fluctuate around 4 to 5° (24-25) before the compressor kicks on which has this soft but high pitched noise. I’m sure I’ll get used to the noise overtime as I’ve only had the freezer a couple of weeks and I am adjusting to the noise but I’m not used to the temperature fluctuation compared to my Domedic that only goes 1° before kicking back on. 3. There is ventilation on three sides of the device, which may limit how one can store this fridge/freezer with optimal airflow. Pros: 1. the freezer is very small! It fits perfectly between my driver and passenger chairs with several inches on each side. 2. Although it seems to kick on a lot, I am using it as a freezer, so I expected this, it does not use a lot of power, and my volts drop very minimally compared to my larger Dometic fridge. 3. The price is so impressive! I know the compressor in this is not, I am assuming, as strong as my Dometic, but this fridge/freezer WORKS! And it’s several hundreds cheaper than my Dometic. Overall. This thing is definitely worth the money. I paid around $170 which will allow me to freeze more meat and vegetables and even ice cream which will keep me out of drive-through‘s and grocery stores…saving more money in the long run. Just be sure to keep a mat under the appliance to catch any condensation and make sure the sides are spaced for airflow. ... show more

The cooler has been used for 12 hours a day in my day cab Mack truck bouncing around and haven't had a problem in a year. It keeps the last temperature settings you had it on, so you don't have to reset it each time you turn the truck off. It gets cold pretty fast, and I find it being set at 38* is ideal for using it as a refrigerator, and 10* as a freezer. The temp does fluctuate a few degrees over and under the set temp, but I would consider that normal. I wasn't sure what to expect. I figured it was a refrigerator/ freezer so it would have to run to keep cool, I was wrong. This unit stayed cold for hours on end. Because it retained the cool so well, it took little time to drop the temperature from 40 to 25F. Adding room temperature items no problem. Size wise, it fits between the two back seats. Power, 12v to 24v not a problem. At 13.8v used 3.4A. Battery saver set to high protection level, never ran my battery down on a 7 day trip with the temperature set for 25F. Phone app, just right of the usage, simple to use. Came with a house power supply so it can freeze two bottles of water over night. Very pleased with this find. ... show more

So far, the cooler works well for intended purpose- day trips. Cools down quickly and seems to hold the temperature so far- it wasn’t overly hot outside or in the car when using it (approx 80 degrees).I have only tested twice so can’t comment on longevity. I haven’t tried to use it as a freezer yet. Only complaint is the 110 plug (end that plugs into cooler) is very loose and I want to plug it in the house to cool it down prior to putting it in the car. 12 v plug is snug. ... show more

I ordered the freezer on 6/24, received 7/3, so not 2-day shipping, which was advertised. The box on the freezer stated to ship upright, Amazon packed it upside-down, then it was delivered on its side (the Amazon box was not marked at all, so not the drivers fault). The freezer itself seems to do what I need, which is re-freeze ice packs on road trips. They don't get as solid as I'd like, but I think it will work.     • Great Box but poor Bluetooth App

I bought this unit because it’s value for the price. I also have a full-size Dometic which works a lot better but it should for $1000. The unit supports a bluetooth app that shows temperatures and other info but only if you are within 20 ft on a clear day without any wind. Never being able to check the temperature from inside my house I decided to buy a $15 Govee Bluetooth thermometer which is small enough to slip into the cooler and now I get cooler temps at almost 300 ft away. This makes a good hack if you want to check cooler temp when your not in the car. ... show more

Nice product keeps drinks cold with very little effort. A compact unit that works very well for the price. It has a small amount of weight to it because of the refrigerator unit but all in all a very good product.
