Pump itself worked well. Reasonably quiet and smooth running. The only complain I have is it should have supply the intake hose. I have never bought this type of pump before and did not realize I need a sturdy intake hose to suck up the water. The hose I bought was not strong enough. Once I started the pump, because the atmosphere pressure it collapsed into thin sheet and the pump can not suck up water anymore. It would have been helpful to supply or at least give a novice like me some guidance. The clamps supplied are too flimsy you’d better off to get real clamps. I would have rated this higher if the product owner’s manual had the following: 1. The amount of oil needed for the crankcase. 2. The missing pages of the manual. It refers to pages 25-29 but the manual ends at page 24. What’s up with that!?!

    • Great little pump
Got this pump to lower the water level in my pool. I also purchased the hose kit, which is necessary if you're going to use the pump on your pool. The only sort of tricky part was priming the pump. You not only have to fill the pump with water, but I found that I had to dip the intake hose into the pool to also fill it with water, because the little bit of water poured into the pump gets pumped out before the pump can create enough suction to pull water up the empty hose. Once I filled the hose with water by dipping the hose in the pool, it worked great. It sounds like a lawn mower when pumping, so you might want to wear ear protection. It lowered the water in my 25x45 pool about 20 inches in about 30 minutes. ... show more

The pump pumped water just fine. The problem was I noticed a gas tank mounting bolt was loose a just spun when trying to tighten it. Whomever installed it cross threaded and broke the mounting flange. I just ran it as is and the vibration eventually fatigued and broke out the other 2 mounting flanges. ... show more

I've owned the Alphaworks pump for a couple pf months now for a large pond remodel project. I had to move large volumes of water out of the pond using the pump. My experience is that the pump has worked flawlessly. It moves large quantities of fluid effortlessly and starts up on the first pull.
