  • Perfect for keeping our pool house dry and comfortable
Color: White
We put this in our pool house to tackle the constant humidity from the pool and wet towels, and it's made a huge difference. The air actually feels dry now, and that musty smell is completely gone. The drain hose setup is a game changer — no more lugging out buckets of water. It runs quietly enough that we can still relax in there without it drowning out conversation. I was worried about energy costs with a 120-pint unit, but the Energy Star rating seems legit; our bill hasn't jumped at all. It feels way more solid and commercial-grade than the cheap box store dehumidifiers I've tried before. . If you're dealing with a humid pool house or similar space, this is absolutely worth it. ... show more

  • Would recommend and would buy again.
Color: White
Bought this product 2 years ago for a 1,300 sq ft home's crawlspace. Works very well and is fairly compact for tight crawlspaces. Consistently (and easily) keeps humidity below 60%. The only drawback is the lack of a pump. Additionally, the wiring leads on the pump do not support 3rd-party pumps for auto shutoff if something goes wrong. But there are other solutions for that. Overall, great product. ... show more

  • Workhorse
Color: White
After researching various dehumidifiers for our crawlspace, I went the Alorair Sentinel HD55 based on the positive reviews vs. some of the other makes and models. We've had it for about two months and so far this unit has been a workhorse and is doing exactly what I needed it to do. I don't think a box store type of dehumidifier would have done the job in our situation. Pros At first setup in the crawlspace the unit read around 70% ambient humidity, and within minutes began to produce a light stream of water which drains into our sump pump pit. The unit is resting on a pair of cinder blocks about 14 inches above the ground and about 2 feet away from the sump pit. There have not been any issues with it properly draining the water with this configuration. It took about two weeks of continuous running (in July) for it to reach the 50% humidity setting and it does now sporadically shut off (usually for no longer than 5 minutes). Note that the manual does list that the unit may read a humidity level of plus/minus 5%. I did not bother with purchasing the WiFi or ethernet connection, but have been checking on it about once a week and there is a significantly noticeable difference in the crawlspace. The noise level is also very tolerable. We only hear the exhaust airflow in the house when it is very quiet and the TV is off. Most of the time we don't hear it at all. I also haven't noticed a large increase in the electric bill, but its hard to tell in the summer with the A/C running. Cons This unit is heavy. It was not an easy haul from our crawlspace opening to the corner of the house where it needed to go. I equated that to durability, but just be mindful of the weight. This model only allows for gravity draining so be sure it will sit high enough to properly drain. Also note that if you want a live feed of the humidity level you'll need to purchase those accessories separately. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY HD55---GO TO HOME DEPOT AND GET A GUARANTEED PRODUCT
Color: White
We purchased and installed the Sentinel HD 55 on 7.24.23 under the advisement of a reputable company that did the Mold Remediation for our new home and was a highly successful removal. We used them with our prior home some ten years hence. They had the same staff of folks come in and do another great removal! About six weeks ago the unit quit working and that is to say it quit removing any humidity in the air (basement of our home). I called, as well as wrote to Alorair, and found that they identified the problem as a loss of refrigerant. I was then directed to send in $350 for a new unit (originally paying $522.66 on 7.19.2023). It was listed to include a 5 year warranty. When I questioned them on their five year warranty on parts on the refrigeration system they quoted me that it was really only covered for two years. They did say that if I bought the replacement I would gain a three year warranty. ... show more

  • Louder than expected
Color: Black
Purchased this to replace a Santa Fe crawl space dehumidifier that had died. Setup was easy and it dropped humidity levels by roughly 25% within hours. Functionally, this model is great and I have no complaints However...I will be returning it. We now have a faint but noticeable hum inside the house, something we didn't have with the old dehumidifier. Both models are supposedly rated at 55db, but the Alorair is noticeably louder and will be returned. ... show more
