We installed these on 8 windows throughout our house and are really happy with the quality and color. They really do block out all light and really help keep out the heat during the summer months. These were easy to install and we haven’t had any issues with parts or rusting since we bought them a year ago. Make sure that you follow the seller’s recommendation and buy the size that is an inch smaller than your window opening. We have two 35 1/4 inch windows so I went with the 35” shade since the shade itself is listed as one inch smaller than the total size. (I didn’t want to buy the 34” and have a 33” shade covering the 35” window). Big mistake. The hardware definitely takes up slightly more than a 1/2” on each side. We ended up shoving the non pull chain side directly into the bracket without the hardware and made it work since the 34” shade has not been back in stock. It works— but I wish I had followed the recommendations.

I am renting a home and all of the 'blinds' have been dried and have broken. I began purchasing these when I needed to replace what the landlord wouldn't and I have been SO VERY impressed with these. The heating and cooling of my home has been largely affected by these wonderful thermal, insulated, black out shades. I love them and as I move to the next room, I order these again to replace what didn't work before. I only have two rooms left, but I can assure that I will order these to complete the replacements because these actually cut down on my utility bills.

mine did not come with any instructions whatsoever but it’s pretty explanatory to look at it and the pieces it comes with its understand how to install it. Actually installed it in 20 minutes and it would’ve been shorter but I went a little too tight because I was fitting them underneath an existing valance to me they seem wound the wrong way because the silver side/reflective side is not up against the window but I did not read to see if you can unwind it roll it the other way I’m almost guessing that you can so it quite possibly is a five star product all around as far as what you get for any of those type of lines Only non-mechanically inclined people would have any difficulty installing these and I’m not knocking mechanically non-inclined people. some people have it and some people don’t and it’s not always an easy thing to teach somebody mechanical aptitude. But that’s off subject I just wanted to say I wasn’t looking down upon non-mechanically inclined people because otherwise us mechanically inclined people would probably have less jobs/work

Overall, these shades do the trick and block out sunlight, while not looking too cheap. Mounting is straightforward and everything was in the package. That being said, two annoyances, which addressing would make these much better/perfect: 1) Screws are very soft and easy to strip the heads of. Even trying many different Philips bits, these screws are quite cheap and easy to strip with minimal effort. A couple more cents here would really pay off. As it stands, would recommend to any one buying these to buy or have your own mounting screws. 2) Cheaply made large warning sticker which is very difficult to remove and leaves a mess. Again, investing a few more cents into a nicer to remove sticker would be great. To any purchasers, would be prepared to spend 5-10 minutes removing a large cheap sticker that tears ever few centimeters, and have goo-gone or some citrus cleaner to remove the adhesive mess it leaves. Be careful to not get it on the shade. Not sure knowing either of the two issues I had would have changed my decision, but would have gladly spent a couple more dollars to not have the headache. As I said, for the money, good value, just know the two items above going into it.

I bought this to replace some Venetian blinds that decided to quit raising up and you can't seem to find them that have the drawstring to raise and lower them any more. After installing this (which was easy by the way), I found that these roller shades knock out the outside light much better than the blinds it replaced. And having the endless chain to raise or lower them makes them much easier to raise or lower than the new blinds that you have to put your hands on to raise them. I'm very satisfied with the quality of these roller shades and how well they knock out outside light. EDIT: Just bought a second set of these roller shades for another room. My daughter who sleeps in that room works nights, so she really needed something to help knock out the daylight and these do the job admirably.

I bought 4 of these shades; 3 in gray, 1 in beige. The ones in gray worked fine, however the one in beige has the fabric unraveling such that there are threads sticking out along the entire edge of the shade. It's not just that this doesn't look great, but it's a real problem each time I want to lower the shade, as the threads get tangled in the cog the shade wraps around, thus preventing the shade from lowering. I tried trimming the errant threads off, but they just form new ones with the next use. I'm not sure why it's only affecting the beige shade and not the gray ones, considering they are the same manufacturer, same size, and get the same amount of use. Maybe I just got a faulty item? Anyhow, aside from the issues with the beige shade, the gray shades have smooth action when they lower and raise. They do a great job at blocking the light, although this depends very much on how you mount them to the window. If you mount them inside the window frame, then you get good light blockage. However if you use the outside mount, then there is more than an inch gap between your shade and the window behind it, which lets a considerable amount of light into the room. The inside mount is harder to do because the sizing has to be very precise, but it is worth it for the additional amount of light blockage you get.
