  • Updated after getting a new iPad cover - Good Purchase!
Color: Space Gray
Delivered fast with 1 day shipping! The material quality looks very good, and I'm happy with the low weight of the unit. It does not add a lot of weight or unbalances the iPad when you hold it. Surprised that there was no documentation or warrantee info inside the package. Due to its small size, the hub does not impose on the iPad speakers. I'm more than a bit disappointed that I had to remove my iPad 12.9 from the ESR Urban Premium Folio Case V2.0 for iPad Pro 12.9" 2018 to use the hub. This makes it impossible to use while keeping my iPad protected. I'm going to search for an "extender", so I can use the hub with my cover. If I can't find one, I'll have to resort to separate dongles to while using the folio case. Not ideal....and defeating the purpose of the hub! The 3.5mm audio jack worked once I removed my iPad from the cover, although the volume buttons on my Bose wired earbuds don't function. The stop/start function does work, and the headphones activate with the USB hub already plugged in. The volume on the headphones was good, and sound quality seemed good with YouTube video and music. I've not yet tried the other ports, and will update once I do. The value for $$ is OK...if all the ports function well. But as mentioned, the use models are limited if you use a cover case that protects the sides of the iPad. Updated 4/1/19: I'm pleased to report that after using a new magnetic case for my iPad 2018 12.9, the hub is working quite well. I also got a new 45w charger and cable to try with the hub, and it charges very quickly. All the ports are working well. I even tried using the USB A port with lightning cable to import photos from my iPhone 7 while charging and listening to music on my Bose Quiet Comfort 25 headphones. The volume controls still don't function...but the sound quality and volume was reasonable. I'm raising my rating to 4 Stars, but would still be looking for firmware update to enable volume controls on the headphone port. I did acquire a HyperDrive hub on Indiegogo...but have not even tried to use it due to many reports of user issues...even damage to iPads. Glad I purchased the Satechi Hub! ... show more

  • IMPORTANT FACTS YOU MUST READ BEFORE PURCHASING, (also fun facts about how gravity works)
Color: Space Gray
It doesn’t come with anything to safely secure it to iPad so it’s literally supported solely by the usb c charging port, speaking of security, if you are a daredevil that like to live life with risk then you’ll love this for the fact I just mentioned and the fact that you probably don’t have a protective case for your iPad because those of us who want to protect our 1,500 investment will not be able to plug this in with the protective case on so therefore you can use this a prayer you don’t have butterfingers, or keep your case on at just stare at this $59 accessory you bought, and if you do decide to risk it, and use it w/o a protective case you still have to be careful with it fact ITS WEIGHT IS SOLEY SUPPORTED BY THE USB-C PORT THAT GOES INTO YOUR $1,700 iPAD PRO!! I mean seriously y’all made this and tested it and not one person in that whole corporation thought “mmmhm, that doesn’t seem like a good placement to secure something with weight and the fact we live on a planet with gravitational pull” Oh FYI if you love the sound of audio pops in your ear or loudly appearing at random over speakers then this is for you as well because that’s what happens too often while using the hub. THE SNAP(your charging port) CRACKLE (the sound of the audio right before the...) POP...in your eardrums from this hub being made by apparently the best minds in the galaxy 🚫👍🏼🚫👍🏼🚫👍🏼🚫👍🏼🚫👍🏼🚫👍🏼🚫 ... show more

  • MIDI keyboard with headphones
Color: Space Gray
I bought this so I could plug in a MIDI keyboard and play it through headphones. Works perfectly for this with no audio lag that I can notice. Can’t speak to the other features/ports on the device.

  • Close, but no cigar...
Color: Silver
Update 1/27/19: I was promptly contacted by Satechi after my initial review. A few messages and a couple days later, my defective hub was replaced with a new one. Now that all ports are working as they should, I can now use multiple devices all at once, just as long as I insert each device in the “right” order. The hub itself fits a little better than the previous one, but I’m still careful about accidentally knocking it. Overall, I can now use my hub as intended, so I’m satisfied. So good news: Build quality is decent. Each port works; I can listen to music using the headphone jack, use the HDMI port, charge with USB-C, and connect my camera or Apogee MiC into my iPad Pro. The problem? I can’t do it all at once, like my previous Apple adapters did. As soon as I plug in my mic and headphones, both cease to work. It’s either one or the other. I bought this hub solely for my recording/music production needs and right now, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen with this product. Also, I find the ports a little too snug for my liking. Felt like I was going to break it when inserting my headphone cable. However, the connection between the iPad Pro and the hub itself is fairly loose. The smallest nudge and the hub falls out. It’s the oddest thing. I want to like this, truly, but this isn’t quite cutting it for me. ... show more

  • Well built, and all ports work for me as advertised. Even on Android.
Color: Space Gray
This hub is a well machined, well built product. All the ports work for me so faron my iPad 11" 2018. I connected a pair of wired earbuds, and a MIDI keyboard in the USB A slot, played some instruments in Beatmaker 3 and could hear them clearly in the earbuds. Tried the HDMI port on my TV, and it instantly mirrored the iPad screen. Tried a flash drive in the USB port, it opened Photos on the iPad and I didn't see what I could do with that. So it works, but the OS doesn't seem to be ready for any functionality with it yet. So until iPadOS launches this fall, connecting external storage is probably going to be pointless. Other than that, everything works fine and as advertised. It even works with my Android phone, a Samsung Galaxy S8+. It has a USB-C port, so figured I'd try it with that too. All the ports worked on my phone. Disappointed that a big device like the iPad excluded the headphone jack, so glad this hub helps me connect all the devices I need. ... show more
