We have a bathroom window that has no blinds so the sun comes really hot and since it has no air vents it gets uncomfortable in there. These are a life saver. Turns the lights almost completely off. Easy to install. Drill helps. They are heavy duty and will last a while.

This blackout shade does a great job of blocking out sunlight and affording privacy, while doing it on a budget. If you need more darkness you will have to get some of those light blockers for the sides, because there is a gap of three quarters of an inch or so between the shade and the window side. The roller chain is nice and large, easy to operate and it gives precise control to the height of the shade. The shade fabric seems to be heat reflecting as well, as it doesn't get warm like simple fabric can when lit from behind. It would be nice if there were a decorative valance at the top, but it shouldn't be hard to install a simple piece to hide the roller and hardware, and you can customize it to your own space. I'm not crazy about the prominent orange and white safety sticker on the bottom bar, so I removed ours by first sliding the bottom tube completely off and then using solvent (mineral spirits) to get the adhesive and paper loose. After it was clean and dry I reinstalled the tube and it now looks the way I wanted it to. It's a good shade for many situations, and it is an easy install. The instructions don't tell you how far apart to install the brackets, so I installed one first and then held the shade with the roller plugs in place and marked where the other bracket landed. There is not much play with this- too tight and it won't work, but you have less than a quarter of an inch, more like an eighth to play with. My first install of these I wanted to center the shade in the opening and it took a few tries to get it exactly right. For the price it's a decent choice.

Allbright 100% Blackout Roller Blinds for Windows, Thermal Insulated Was simple installation with nice directions. This was just the size I needed. You can hang the chain on right or left easily. I was surprised how easily this blind went up. We can tell a nice difference in room temperature since installing this although we have not had it opened since. It helps keep the room dark and cooler this summer. Nice find !

The material feels like a projector screen; thick and slightly textured. It does a good job at blocking light but you'll always have some light bleeding through around the sides. The size was accurate to what I ordered. The mounts are the not-so-good part. They work, but I feel like they will break unless you are always gentle with it. I would have preferred some cast aluminum brackets instead of the thin plastic.
