From the first week of usage I really impressed! First time Kindle user. 1. Great Screen Quality + Excellent Lighting for reading at low light conditions. 2. For my hand, the ergonomics with one side bulge is really convenient and fits my hand perfectly. 3. Buttery life after 1 week of use: With plane mode + sometimes disabling plane mode to sync + ~2 hours reading each day my buttery is now on 30% (after a week). I will keep monitoring (I assume the first week indexing also affects buttery life though impressed also with current buttery life). Some Suggestions to Amazon For International Users: (I'm from Israel) 1. Support Overdrive also out of the USA. Israel Librarys support Overdrive/Libby but Amazon doesnt support it.. 2. Add Hebrew Dictionary/Support (Bing support Hebrew). ... show more

    • Very disappointed about the battery life.
I have a Kobo Libra and forma. I like the. Very much. I also bought kindle books, so I wan to give it a try one prime day. However, I am very disappointed about the battery life, network, and login process. First of all. After my first full charge (actually I can only charge it to 99% I don't know why), I read a few pages and went to sleep. The next day when I woke up, the battery drop to 92%. Battery life is essential to the ebook reader, if I have to charge it every day, I can simply use my phone Besides, I think the login process is problematic or annoying. It ask me to verify on my phone app, but every time I approve the login, the device always stuck on the waiting for verification screen. Eventually, I figured it out using web browser to enter the verification code. It is very frustrating. And the whole process took 20% battery life. The third, though it support 4G/LTE, but I could use the network when I first use it. And it now onlu connect to 3G network. Although, it doesn't garuntee 4g connection, but I feel disappointed. The cellular network in Taiwan is well development. 3g is getting retired in 2024. I think amazon should come out a list for countries supporting 4g. Besides those issues, the screen is very responsive and the text are very clear. I think the display is better then Kobo, but I am considering return it. Too many flaws. Update: after turning on airplane mode and turning off auto brightness, the battery got much much better. Then I think, probably 4G version or oasis is not necessary. A simple Paperwhite mode will better choice. ... show more

    • Wish I had tried it out before purchasing
For me the Oasis is too small, I had a Kindle 2 before and it is so comfortable to hold, even for extended duration. The Oasis is not so much and also for some reason I cannot get used to the screen, quite amazingly I find twiddling the backlight a pain to get correct and with it off I find it less legible than my old device.
