First let me start by saying I have 2a/2b, very thin, bright purple hair. I have tried several different curly hair systems, and I have to say this is the BEST I've ever used. I started using the shampoo and conditioner, curl cream, and gel. The shampoo cleans my hair beautifully without stripping my color. I have not felt for the need to use a clarifying shampoo since I started with this brand. Yet it leaves my hair soft and manageable even without the conditioner. It smells nice but not strong. Oh and it dies not have a lot of sudsing so be careful the first time you use it. You will be tempted to use 3x the amount you need. Just make sure you hair is soaking wet and put a quarter size (for my thin hair) to you scalp and you will amazed at how it will clean your hair. The condition is so great! It gives great slip in the shower but does not leave a film or make my thin hair greasy. Nor does it weigh it down at all. I use a bit more than a quarter size and it is plenty. It rinses out so beautifully but still gives me that slip I am looking for while I scrunch my hair in the shower. So because my hair is so thin, I usually cannot use curl creams or at least not too much. It will weigh down my hair. But not this one. It actually helps tighten and curl my curls. No other curl cream has done that for me...ever! Before using this entire system my hair was more close to 1c/2a. Yes you read that right. Not anymore. My hair is so curly. I had no idea it could get that curly. Wow. All my friends have noticed, my husband, and even my kids. I love my hair now! Oh and somehow these products make my hair thicker. I have a scrunchy I use. Usually it goes around my hair 3 times to keep it up. Now with these products, at the end if the day when I put my hair up it goes around 2x. That's not to say I couldn't go a 3rd, but I don't need to now to make it stay. So cool! And my hair looks fuller and thicker as well. Oh. I need to mention the crunch. None to very little. I have put this to the test and used a LOT for my hair and still very little crunch. Only beautifully SOFT, touchable curls. Once my hair is dry, (I blow dry about 50% dry & air dry the rest on most days) I shake it out a bit and fluff the roots a bit and it just look beautiful. I go 4 days between washings and it looks good for all 4 days. Humidity test. I live in southern Cald and it is summer right now. My hair has not frizzed out at all. Last summer I wore ponytails a lot because of the frizz. I LOVE this stuff! I am sure you can tell my enthusiasm for this shampoo, conditioner, curl cream, and gel. GET IT! It's worth it, especially if you have my hair. I originally bought a travel set as a trail of this product and now I am sold and this is my curly hair product. Anyone need a brand new bottle of Cantu shampoo and conditioner? I will never go back ... show more

This gel works great for my fine to medium 2c/3a hair. It doesn't weigh it down, isn't super sticky, and gives my curls good definition without the crunch (for the most part). If you use too much you will get crunchy just fyi. Price is extremely affordable for how long this bottle has lasted me. So I bought this with the curl cream and my curls DRINK IT UP and they feel bouncy and soft but not defined. This gel doesn’t give me great hold and my curls are too loose. If you pair it with a high hold gel its perfect but honestly its not worth it to me. Will not be purchasing again. Its great for wavy curls or if you want looser curls - I have a mixture of 3a/3b curls and I prefer tighter curls. This is the first product in line that I have tried and I do not see myself ever being without it again. Not sure how it will hold up in AL summer humidity since it was fall when I started using it. I love the shine and softness that comes with this gel. I mainly use it on refresh days. It is a little thick so I emulsify with water and use praying hands and rake a bit then scrunch it in. I have plopped with it and not added more after taking hair out of plop and liked the results. But my favorite is to plop then lightly glaze more and scrunch it again then diffuse. And I really like the refresh days of just misting warm water, emulsifying gel with water and applying then scrunching and letting it air dry. I am a wavy, (2b, 2c, 3a), however, my hair does well with heavier products. This product, although thick, is light and does not weigh my hair down at all and frizz is very minimal. ... show more

I have mixed feeling about this gel. First off, it is not crunchles. It does the job and hold curls but leaves my hair feeling a little crisp for the first few hours. I'm a bit neutral about the smell. It doesn't have a bad or strong smell.

The product feels very, very thick like it will make your hair have a very tough cast to break. However, there is very little cast if any, and it makes my curly hair look it’s best. I highly recommend it.

I love this stuff.I have thick corse curly hair, I also live where are humanity is high. I put it in a spray bottle deluded with a little water so it could spray. I freshen it up in the morning and let it dry. My hair looks great all day. Lots of compliments.
