I bought i5 skylake gt965m alienware and im really glad. There are too many negative comments about this product but now im sure why they write about this product. Because i think they dont know much about computers and drivers. When i first sturtup my computers drivers already set up. Just dont forget to update bios first then drivers and download directX before playing games thats all. Im using this computer like more than one month. Until so far no crashes no glitching no dead pixels or other problem. By the way i also like battery. It longs like 6 hours its pretty good for gaming laptop. Also i bought 850 evo ssd. And i migrated windows with samsung migration, now my start up time 5-7 seconds. I love it!! ... show more

So after about two years of use. The laptop would freeze up every so often from day one. No one could tell me why. They blamed it on my steam program. Well today I decided to pull the back off to check the cpu because the sticker says Core i7 witch should be compatible with windows 11 but it keeps telling me it’s not that’s because it has an i5 processor not an i7 like it says but the best part was finding a Toshiba drive in my Dell Laptop. Makes me think that’s the reason for the random freezing. Paid almost a 1000.00 for a computer and it works for a gaming fine set up but disappointing it’s not what it was supposed to be. I’m not a IT tech just a dude who was looking for a good deal on a gaming laptop and now I can’t upgrade to windows 11 so the computer will no longer get updates after October. My bad should have done my homework better. ... show more

Awful. IT has been in the shop 3 times and this last time it has never worked right. IT has not worked for most of the year. I called this last time on Dec 4, it was not working. Sent it immediately in but now it is 4 days past warranty. and they are making me pay for an extension. RIDICULOUS

I love this laptop it can run nearly every game I have thrown at it so far even on medium to the lowest graphics settings for the majority of games made in 2018 and onwards from there! I was told my laptop WILL NOT run Cyberpunk 2077 at all since the graphics are so extreme on that game, but I am glad I own a console which I can play that game on instead if my current Alienware 15 laptop will not run it! I have not had any problems with the battery or with the motherboard in my laptop unlike a lot of other customers that have bought this same computer.... I also bought a KLIM cooling pad to use with this laptop, and I have to say that is the best accessory you can buy because after you do than you will barely hear the laptop fans come on anymore if at all even during the most demanding games you are playing on it! ... show more

Probably I could have bought a better spec machine for the money I spent in this Alienware machine, but I priorized build quality and cooling. And for I can say, I wasn't wrong with this. The construction quality is fabulous, the plastics are good and they look solid. The cooling is amazing, almost everytime working with passive cooling or low rpm, no noise, no high temps, confortable use for my hands. I bought the basic model with the i5, 8GB RAM and the GTX 965 and it performs AMAZING. I wasn't expecting this kind of power from this specs. I can run EVERY game on high settings with decent FPS and the Quad Core runs great while rendering. The keyboard and the touchpad are INCREDIBLE. Best I've used by far. Really big touchpad and a nice travelling keyboard. Also, the laptop is ridiculously good looking, everybody will get close to take a look of the tron-like machine. At last, the battery...OMG. I've been 8 hours working without needing to connect it with 40% bright and power saver mode, working with music on background. The cons for me are clearly: -The screen: It's OK if you're everytime in closed rooms, but if you need to use your laptop for ANYTHING outside, you will not be able to, cause the bright is TOO LOW. -Dell BIOS Updates: This is really bad, completely sad. Dell just launched some BIOS updates that literally make the laptop unusable. They posted a fix for this like 2 MONTHS after they released the BIOS update. I solved it by myself, but a lot of people didn't, and that's Dell fault. Again, this is ridiculous in a machine with this price and from a brand like Alienware. -The AC adapter size: It's really big. I mean, you could need an extra pocket in your backpack for it. ... show more

This laptop is awesome - when it works. Had problems from the beginning with slow start-up, then at 6 months old, it stopped working. It's still under warranty so calling Dell but what a disappointment.

    • DELL should equip Alienware laptop a better screen as the cost is much higher
[the version I bought]: Alienware 15 R2, i5 6300HQ GTX 965 2G, 8gb RAM, 1T HDD, 1080p This is a laptop with enough performance, but you need to do some research about the monitor within this Alienware 15 R2 1080p version. If you are planning to use this one as a video editing machine, this Alienware 15 R2 is not the right one for you. The thing is, the screen is yellow and dim, you can see many complaints online just google it. I was going to buy the new inspiron i7559 which has the same core i5, slightly less powerful GTX 960 4G. The reason made me change my mind is the customers who bought it complain about the monitor, then I thought DELL should equip Alienware laptop a better screen as the cost is much higher so I bought this one. Unfortunately the screen have the same issue as the new inspiron's one, poor performace with a low 57% sRGB coverage. The part number of this screen is the same as the 15 R1's, but the R1 one is much much better than this one. Reason unknown yet, hope it is a driver issue. You can simply avoid this screen quality problem by buy the R1 version which has a less powerful CPU or upgrade to a 4k screen. So far, for alienware series this problem only happens on Alienware 15 R2 1080p!!! ... show more
