These have a nice, warm sound and string up nicely. I am not a pro, and I follow a video to restring just about every time because because I apparently have a knack for picking out strong strings. Just from the little bit I've handled these, I know they will definitely last long enough that I'll need to follow a video next time too. You can feel the quality, and you can definitely hear it. They're comfortable to play, and can sound plenty bright-- they work awesome! These are very playable, and I would buy them in the future because I love both the price and the sound quality. Highly recommend!

Alice is a brand of instrument strings that I never heard of before, but when these became available, and given their low list price, I decided to give them a try. This set is the typical medium gauge spread of .045 to .100 and they measured true. Coated phosphor bronze round wound. Extra squeaky out of the box but settling down some. I do not change my bass strings often enough to have any level of expert views on strings. I have my preferences with price no object strings and electric bass ones, but for kick around strings these seem OK. Bright, a little too bright on my particular bass, but not objectionable enough to want to immediately change them. A little rough as is the case with most fresh round wounds. Harmonics are good and the bass to treble balance good. I have stable tuning machines and can tell these have held pitch well so far. These will temper down with use and it's really a matter of time will tell as to oxidation and continuing to have a good ring. We'll see if Alice doesn't live here any more down the line.

I have an Alvarez acoustic bass guitar with a scale length of roughly 32 ½” and a symmetrical head stock. So these 34” scale length strings fit fine with plenty of winding. I’ve had a set of Ernie Balls on it for so many years it’s hard to remember what they sounded like new. I prefer what I consider more of a traditional bass tone: darker, with little finger noise. I once used a set of Labella coated strings but they didn’t drive the acoustic bass the way I wanted. I was surprised at how warm these strings sound out of the box, almost as if they were broken in. They responded to my usual stretching routine and stay in tune nicely. I play with fingers and, while I can definitely feel the winding, it’s not overly abrasive like some phosphor bronze strings can be.
