Easy to use! I like this machine. Less frustrating and way easier to use than engravers that only have app or web programs. Those programs can be used, but something simple can be done in a matter of moments. Pre- loaded Fonts are limited, but for labeling things or simple engraving it's fine! I think the basic ease of use encourages me to expand into the design programs because I know it works & I'm not overly annoyed that I can't get anything to engrave. I had some trial and error but this machine is fast enough that you can see the progress & adjust. I can take this little machine to the farm and engrave ear tags for livestock in no time. ... show more

I can't say enough about the Algolaser Pixi. I have a couple of CNC routers and another laser engraver, and the Pixi is the one that gets the most use. It's a fun engraver to work with, and produces some very good results for such a small unit. It is limited to a 4 x 4" engraving area, but bigger isn't always better when it comes to learning how to use a laser engraver. This unit is a great learning tool and it's a great starting engraver The unit arrives well packed in foam and the inside of the unit is filled as well. Be very careful to make sure all of the foam is removed. After unpacking it was a simple mater of plugging it in to get started exploring the project lists that are built in that contain likely 200 or more project files to try like some of the ornaments shown. The display on the top front of the unit is small but clear and easy to read and understand. The onboard Algolaser software is fun to explore, and it's really well designed for ease of use. The engraver can be connected to a PC using a USB to USBC cable, and it connected right up to WIFI without any issues. The android based Algolaser phone app is intuitive and very easy to learn as well, plus it's full of useful features that you can spend quite a bit of time exploring. It has a gouache mode as shown of the daffodils that produces a cut relief image as shown, grayscale, cartoon and more to try out. From a hardware standpoint it's not missed a beat yet. Everything works as it should, and I haven't had a mechanical issue crop up yet after a likely couple to several hundred cycles. It's a gutless wonder and just keeps on going without complaint. It has mechanical features that add to its' functionality. The unit can be raised up on the base to engrave taller objects or to accommodate an optional rotary roller attachment to engrave round objects. The platen is reversible too for either engraving or cutting. One side has a grid marked out for engraving, while the other is a raised for cutting. I can say after several hundred cycles using this 10 watt and about the same number of cycles on another 5 watt unit that with just minor maintenance as noted in the manual these machines keep going without a hiccup. They're durable, well designed units that are simple to set up and operate, the software integration is great and feature packed, and they produce good results on a consistent basis. For what it cost it's a well designed, functional machine. For anyone starting out like me it's a great engraver, and for the price it's a good value for a 10 watt diode laser. ... show more

I have ordered two of these and both were immediately faulty for different reasons. Their support team is not responsive. The instructions are brief and miss a lot of information that I had to learn about elsewhere. Don’t waste your money.

I alraedy had a 40 watt laser engraver from this company when I got this one. I noticed that I rarely used more then 40% power on my larger engraver and I wanted something smaller I could take with me in my RV when I go on trips. This is the perfect size and you don't need a computer to use it. Adding a computer really extend what it can do. However, for traveling I will probably use the downloadable app you can get. This company really put a lot of thought on how to make an engraver. It is very easy to use and works on a lot of materials. At 10 watts it has enough power to do just about anything you would need at this size. You can also get a lot of attachments that can extend its usability. Got this for its 10W laser, which is double that of most I've used. Right out of the box, it comes with everything I need to set up, and the app is user-friendly. The size of the engraver is portable and lightweight, yet it is height-adjustable. The integrated screen is a huge plus, so I can monitor the projects better and more efficiently. I am currently using this engraver for wood projects, and it burns the images I have from my phone nicely onto the wood pieces. The engraver also works surprisingly quickly. I've had to wait about 30 minutes per 4 x 4 inch wood project, while this one only takes me less than 7 minutes. The wattage is adjustable as well. It is on the more expensive side, but the features and ease of using it makes it well worth considering. ... show more
