  • I needed a better quality
Alright, well first off I would like to say overall I did end up liking this house. I will say the directions could be much easier if they explained a few things. I also have 5 chickens and a duck, so I left out two of the perches so the duck could settle in as well. I do think that it is small, for 6 birds, but not uncomfortable. For any of you building it I will add a couple short tips on constructing it and what I personally did wrong at the bottom of the review. I will start out with the cons. Cons: The wood is a very cheap cedar so please be careful when you are opening the package and constructing it. Slamming a panel too hard could break it. The latches do not line up completely so you might need to move them around. Also, it will be drafty and the wood is not weatherproof well, so you may want to use some sealer. The easy clean pan was strange. It wasn't exactly aluminum, but more like cardboard with a spray/roll on metal? I can see this being a issue later in the coops life where this pan would sag or collapse. So you might consider some type of reinforcement. The nest boxes are a little on the narrow side, but not impossible for smaller or average hens. And the removable dividers make an easy fix And lastly, just price. For the cheap material, I do feel I over payed. There is no way I am going to return it, but I would hope in the future, this would be about $50 cheaper for the customer. That would be fair. Pros: All of the doors work very well, no sticking or bending. The actual assembly only took about an hour and a half with two people and that is with us having a couple of mess ups. The instructions, although difficult, were not impossible to understand and the pictures were very well drawn. The overall look of it is very appealing and I was pleased to see that there was a stand to hold the hinged doors up. The overall look of this is really nice. I absolutely love it. It doesn't look super cheap or too small. I see this lasting me a a few years or more (with the weather proofing and bottom support). It is pretty lightweight, so you can move it around pretty easy with two people. Now, let's talk about construction. So first off, the instructions don't have any actual words on them so sometimes fitting peices correctly can be difficult. One mistake I made was I made panel c (the side panel the boxes are attached to) flush with the outside. These need to be even with the inside to use the cleaning pan. This is the same situation with the bottom panel for the nest boxes. They need to have the predrilled holes facing up and inwards and it needs to be flush with the inside. There are these pegs for the bottom to keep the wood from sitting in and soaking up water, it's easier to put them on in the very beginning before you put any screws in. The instructions tell you to do it later, but you can do them any time. And finally, if you think the holes were placed wrong, they probably weren't. It's like a puzzle and sometime you get that piece that fits but not completely, because it might be off slightly. . ... show more

  • GREAT DESIGN, DECENT WOOD, GOOD SIZE, POOR WORKMANSHIP
This chicken house has a great design in terms of space, attractiveness and better than average fixtures like screws and locks. The instructions were inadequate as others have pointed out. But the serious problem is that the parts seem to be made from non-standardized pieces that did not fit in critical places. The roof had several holes that were not aligned to the frame and had to be re-drilled, leaving the original holes in the roof needing to be patched. with putty and silicone. The black rubber or PVC feet protectors were missing or fell out of the damaged and flimsy shipping box. The sturdy-looking black metal bars in ventilator window pictured in product description came with hardware-cloth mesh instead. The roost bars and the actual coop floor (which is a lined cleaning pan that is supposed to slide in and out) were not long enough to attach from one side to the other. The roost bars were easy to fix with a small bit of wood to push them out enough so meet the opposite side frame but the floor is completely defective. We had to prop it up off the ground enough so no critters can get in but it still has a gap and we had to jerry rig a thin shelf for the floor to rest on and attach it with screws. Thus it is not able to slide in and out for cleaning and also not secure and will likely not hold the weight 0f full grown chickens, if it even makes it through this season. I am sad that such an attractive and usefully designed coop (great amount of flexible interior space, naturally water resistant lovely colored wood, very nice interior space, beautifully lined cleaning tray floor and decent screws and fixtures ) had such critical flaws. With proper quality control this could be an extraordinarily good coop. But no one should have to be a carpenter to both fix and assemble an expensive product that is supposed to secure animals safely. ... show more

  • It is water resistant and has 6 nests and can fit 8 chickens
The media could not be loaded. I liked the size of the house for the hens and it has 6 nests, 3 poles for the chickens to sleep; and good quality for the type of use that is going to give, I like its design what I do not like is that the front door where the chickens are small and enter as soon as they fit and the entrance ramp is also small. And what I like is that it is waterproofed and the rain water is not put into it. I am satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

  • Be aware of what you’re getting
I do like it in the end. I guess I would recommend it, but…. Understand what you are getting; It is nice looking, but fairly light duty, litewright wood. Instructions are too good, but I think you’ll figure it out. The ramp is worthless. The metal on the try floor is super cheap and is eaten very quickly by the urine, it won’t last long. The n sting box doors and hinges are a poor design and if not used delicately will break apart easily. Ships in two boxes that may come at very different times, be patient. If you cal the shipper they will have a tracking number for each box. The Amazon tracking is worthless. Like I said, I do like it, I’d probably buy it again. Just know what you’re getting. ... show more

Half of the coop arrived. No roof, front, back or legs. What did arrive was totally broken. I got hasseled by Amazon to the point of exploding until I was finally issued a refund. Ruined my day and now I have no home for my chicks.

  • BETTER THAN EXPECTED
This coop was so easy to put together and worked perfectly well. This is my third coop and it's by far the best.

  • Not worth money paid for it
Nice size but cheap made. It had a Crack in one of the pieces and one of the walls had a gap. It'll serve its purpose but I'll build one next time! 2 days later and it's separating on some of the joints 😥

  • Aggravating and not predator proof… Bottom falls out.
Very cheap and thin. The tray does not fit or slide as advertised. It’s takes a lot of aggravation to get it out to clean and return to the bottom of house. Spend a little more money for a coop that is well built, you won’t regret it.
