After the first thirty minutes of installing the saddles and driving down the road I nearly lost one because the retaining pin almost came out. I managed to use super glue to hold them because I was leaving the next morning on a trip and they worked well. But even now they are falling out even after using super glue. I bought these to modify a trailer for hauling my kayak. So far they have worked great. Better than expected. I was able to use the hardware provided for my trailer but I dont think the hardware would work with my roof rack (brackets are too narrow). I'm happy with them, only concern is durability seeing as how they are pretty much all plastic. Would like to note they are not the ones pictured that are wielded steel.     • Fairly flimsy
These hold my kayak fairly well. One of the saddles has a pin that comes loose really easy so I have to put that back in every time I use them. There is also no real way to lock these so you are risking your nice kayak if you go anywhere terrible people are, which is just about anywhere these days.

There are pins that hold the curved portion to the base. They start coming out while driving. I had to push back into place to keep from falling apart. Will have to try to epoxy them in place. Don’t buy these

I manufactured a double kayak rack on my van and installed 4 of these.. the "U" bolts do rust as reviewed by others, and I used a screw to help keep each in place. The plastic nut spinners break, or come off and are lost...these are not major issues due to mine are adjusted to "fit" my kayaks. I took a 7000 miles road trip last summer with these. I did use rachet straps to secure my kayaks on these saddles, instead of the straps that where included. ... show more

Was excited to get this set up for picking up my new kayak, but disappointed to find when opening the box that the clamps to hold the saddles to your cross bar will not fit if your cross bar is anything over 1 1/2" wide. My cross bars are pretty standard to what I've seen and they are 2" wide. I can find nowhere in the description that indicate this measurement requirement. No time to order a replacement so I had to make a run to Cabela's for a different set of J-Bars. Returning these. ... show more
