We have been using this fan to cook on our kitchen and use it as an addition to our current ventilation fan whenever we are cooking a heavy meal. And it’s perfect to use when guests are in so the house doesn’t smell like food. It’s easy to use and the noise level is very low so we can use it as much as we want. This fan hood is fine for things like bacon and other cooking items that give off oily mist. The fan is powerful enough to suck it up and trap the oily mist. It includes an oil catching cup which is a joke. No way it's catching that much airborne oil, LOL. The fan is reasonably powerful and comes with a good size battery. I've charged it once and haven't had to charge it yet after cooking 6-7 meals. The overall quality of the construction is quite good, the house is good quality, stiff plastics. Now for the realistic part: it's still just a fan with a decent filter that doesn't exhaust to the outside. So if you sear a steak and it gets smokey, this isn't going to do much for you. The smoke will still be in your house! As I lead off with, this fan is best for oily/smokey residue. For $150 would I buy one? Probably not, but I tried this off the Vine as I've been curious how well these actually work. It does serve a practical use, just need to be realistic with its capability and cost being a real factor I can't really recommend it. ... show more

    • Exactly What Was Needed
We use a cast iron grill pan frequently, but without a hood fan over the stove (it's still in the box waiting for a kitchen remodel), the kitchen gets unbearably smoky. This is exactly what we needed. It doesn't eliminate all the smoke, but I am very happy with it.
