These are a must for airlayering. Sure, using a sandwich baggie or cut up water bottle works great too, but these are super easy to use, easy to store and very reusable. Even once the hinge plastic breaks (only happened to one of mine so far after many uses), it’s still very functional because you can zip-tie the halves together. I prefer the clear so I can see what’s going on with the roots without having to disturb it by opening it. I use these medium and small all the time and they never let me down. So far [knock wood] I have never had a single airlayer fail to establish good roots or survive after being separated and potted.

Overall the air layering pods seemed to work for what we needed. They do snap together a little loose which I feel like allowed more moisture to escape the soil, but I'm sure that this provides flexibility for different size branches. I would like to try lining them with some sort of plastic sheeting to maybe help retain moisture in the gaps that the pod has when closed. I did not actually have any success with these yet, as I believe I started the process too late in the season, but I will be trying again and will report back.

Wanted to try air layering for the first time so I got these pods! They're such an interesting concept and I wanted to see how they worked on my Pothos plant that had some bare stems. I used sphagnum moss and soaked it in some water, wrung it out, and put it in the pods. Then I used the ziptie which was included and used those to close the pods. Although the pods have a small plastic clasp to keep them closed, I used the zip tie anyway to keep it secure. Initially, I thought that maybe I would want a smaller pod in the future (Just thought it would look better?) But after using, The pods are a good decent size because that means you have a good amount of sphagnum moss in them which will keep the root area humid for a longer period of time. Uploaded is an image of what it looks like! I hope to see some roots growing out of those stems soon! :)

I've done a lot of air layering over the years. I do bonsai. Air layering is one of the best ways to start a new tree from desirable source material. You get a nice spread of roots around the base of the new trunk. Growing new trees from cuttings tends to make more roots on one side of the cutting than the other. While I just received these, an order of two of each size, they look ideal for the purpose and can be reused for years. My warning has to do with the packaging. The two halves of each device are to be held together with small zip ties There are lots of them in the package. The zip ties are just loose in the package. The clear plastic zip lock bag, which is the main packaging, is taped shut. You can't see that the zip-ties are in there. So, when you cut, or tear, the package open, the zip ties fall out everywhere. They really should be in their own envelope or zip lock bag.
