I was surprised to see reviews claiming this soil is wood-free. I’ve purchased two bags now, and both definitely contained wood pieces. While the soil quality looks good and performs well for general gardening, I wouldn't recommend it for starting delicate seeds unless you have the patience to pick through it first. I did start some onion seeds in this mix before switching to a dedicated seed-starting soil, and they are actually growing quite well! Keep in mind that you are paying a premium for the convenience of Amazon delivery; it is definitely cheaper if you go to a local hardware store like Home Depot. Overall, it's a solid choice for "to-your-door" convenience if you don't mind a bit of texture. ... show more
