This air fryer oven is light weight, though a little on the bulky side considering its 12-quart capacity doesn’t really hold all that much food. The user manual is thorough and clear, making it easy to get started using it right away. The oven I received was brand new but has a visible scuff mark on the upper left front face between the door and control panel. The black plastic encasement has some uneven seams and feels a little thin and fragile to me. There is some side-to-side horizontal play in the door. I’m guessing that’s by design, but it makes the door feel flimsy. The included drip pan I received has two small circular spots where the nonstick surface is peeling off. The drip pan comes positioned at the very bottom of the oven but is very hard to remove because it rubs against the bottom of the oven door when trying to pull it out. This isn’t very practical considering the pan collects grease and juices. It would be a complete mess trying to pull it out when full. I ended up putting the pan one position up above the oven floor and am glad I did. There is quite a bit of spatter that happens during cooking. That said, the interior is relatively easy to clean, although I think a basket/drawer style air fryer would be easier and less messy. This air fryer has a very easy to use and understand control panel and offers all the most important features I want in an air fryer. Temperatures and cooking time can be set precisely. The “reheat” and “keep warm” options work well, as do the “preheat” and “turn” options. The oven will pause cooking if the door is opened, then resumes when the door is closed. It has an on/off toggle for the interior light to check food while cooking. That’s the upside of having a window on the door. I’ve only used it a handful of times now, but the air fryer works very well. The first thing I cooked was chicken thighs. They look a little dark in the posted photo, but that was because of the spice rub I used. The thighs were tender, juicy, evenly cooked, and full of flavor. The skin was nice and super crispy. The result was far better than when cooked in my conventional oven. So far, I love everything about how this air fryer functions but am a little “iffy” on the build quality. Technically, this doesn't do anything my traditional basket-style air fryer won't do. It just makes it much, much easier. The first thing I cooked - and I've never actually cooked in an air fryer before beyond frozen foods and fries that don't really count as cooking - was a whole chicken. It was amazing! My previous benchmark for moist poultry was Dutch oven roasting, and this was far superior, and with less time and less heat in the kitchen. Because of the mess, I never would have attempted this in a basket-style fryer, but the drip tray with this fryer makes that incredibly easy. I'll be air frying a lot more drippy foods now, such as bacon, steaks and pork chops. This model is super-easy to clean compared to a basket style. The two flat trays make a lot of things easier, too. One of my gripes about my current air fryer, an eight-quart model, is that it's difficult to fit more than four hash-brown patties in it at once. The ability to us more vertical space by stacking the trays on this model is a game-changer. I think the capacity claims are nonsense. If you look at the photo, it's measured by taking into account the entire interior of the air fryer. Problem is, without a basket, there's no way to fill the entire interior. I've ordered 3" deep silicone liners to try to increase the capacity beyond the two flat trays, and if that doesn't allow enough air flow I'm going to invest in a wire basket. It does, indeed, hold a 5-pound chicken, though I'm not sure it would fit on the rotisserie. The one in the blurry photo is 4.9 lbs. It got a little black on the top, but I was going to remove the skin anyway. It also will easily hold an 8" round cake pan. A 9" round fits, too, but I'm not sure if there's room for the proper air flow that you need to bake in a regular oven, let alone in an air fryer. I haven't tried the other accessories. The fry basket is a great idea, but it's a little small when my college kids are home. I thought they were going to stab each other with their dinner forks last night because the 4.9 lb. chicken was barely enough for two active young adults. The variety of presets is great, too, especially if you're new to air frying. This air fryer is easy to use and no more noisy than my basket-style fryer even though it operates at higher wattage. Bottom line: If you're interested in air-fryer cooking, this is a great machine. It's easy to clean and use. For cooking fries, tots or onion rings for a family, you're going to need an after-market addition. ... show more
