I purchased these clippers after reading that it worked well with matted hair. The clippers seemed to work fine but I noticed that the blades started to pull my dogs hair after an hour. I have a Maltipoo so there was some matting around the neck where his collar was and the trimmers could not cut it. Also, the machine heats up after about 15 min. I would recommend turning it off and giving it a break because my dog started to feel the heat when I got to his paws. I bought these clippers to replace a Whal I had been using for my dog. She is a toy poodle with what they call candy cotton (?) hair. She doesn't shed, and It gets matted very easily. The Whal couldn't deal with matted hair and I had to be extremely careful so I wouldn't nick her, and it still happened frequently. She is a very sensitive dog and hated it. So did I hate to hear her yelp...ugh. I just tried these clippers, and it cut through her hair like butter. Not one nick! Even if it stops working, it has already paid for itself in one haircut. I love that it's cordless, and it has a light indicator to let you know how full the battery is. For the price, it's almost excellent, and it comes with a comb and scissors too. The only thing is that it got a bit hot, but it wasn't terrible. I found about these clippers in an article online about best dog clippers for matted hair. I use these and another type to clip my schnauzer. Works great when blades are hot to switch. Clips grate and our Bailey doesn't seem to mind them at all but he's such a good boy on the grooming table.

These clippers make it somewhat easier and justifiable to absolutely jack up your dogs haircut to save on an appointment. Overall just because I dont like cutting my dogs hair id say skip out on these but if you're actually good at the task I'd say get these ones. This trimmer works great on my Shih Tzu and Pomeranian. The combs are about worthless and very cheap on quality. The 2 smaller ones kind of work, the teeth are way too long on the others.
