Description

Effortlessly spread seed, fertilizer and more with the Agr-Fab Tow Spreader. Features increased manuverability, a rust-proof poly hopper with spread plate increasing product life and heavy-duty pneumatic tires designed to go anywhere easily completing any job. Conveniently covers approximately 1/4 acre and holds 85 pounds. Maintain wide distribution of fertilizer while reducing the necessary time, energy, and fertilizer to cultivate an attractive, even lawn with this broadcast spreader from Illinois-based Agri-Fab. Whereas other types of spreaders often result in overlap or missed strips, creating a line effect on lawns, this broadcast spreader distributes fertilizer in a random spray pattern to cover a width of 8 to 10 feet. The broadcast coverage nurtures more natural, uniform grass growth, while limiting the needed fertilizer for an extra ecological benefit. Designed for towing behind a tractor, the spreader also can be used for grass seed or ice melt in large open areas. The broadcast spreader is crafted with a 1/2-inch tubular steel frame. Fertilizer or seed are loaded into a polyethylene hopper that resists rust, corrosion, and weather damage for long- lasting use. Accommodating approximately 85 pounds, this broadcast spreader is best equipped for use in yards and spaces 14,200 square feet or smaller. The spreader features a Delirn gear drive type. The spreader is towed on two 10-by-4 pneumatic tires with 1/2-inch diameter tubular steel axles. While the broadcast spreader provides excellent distribution of fertilizer and is a good choice for spreading seed and ice melt, Agri-Fab strongly discourages its use for powder lime. This USA-made broadcast spreader is designed for towing only and cannot be converted for manual pushing. This product may be covered by a limited one-year warranty. Upon shipping, the broadcast spreader measures 21-1/2 by 24-1/2 by 19-1/4 inches and weighs 17 pounds. --Jessica Reuling

  • Impressively useless
I expected the controls for the door to be difficult to operate from a tractor but they are completely useless from anywhere - they just don't work the unit then proceeds to dump the fertilizer out as quickly as possible and the large amount of fertilizer kills the lawn. The spreader also works intermittently - at times jamming the tires so they are just dragged across the lawn - don't waste your money.... ... show more

  • Assembly problem
Thanks for your e-mail. I assembled the unit and everything went well except when It was time t assemble tow arm.( bottom drawing on page 4 of your assembly instructions) I could not tighten the bolts due to.the impression around the bolt holes. The bolt heads and the nuts were inset so far in that I could not tighten the bolts. Every wrench that I tried to use could not grip the bolt heads or the nuts. I resolved this problem by using 1/4 inch flat washers at the bolt head and the nut. Another problem I encountered is with the upper 2 bolts. They are too long. They dig into the hopper bottom and will wear through the bottom in time. I resolved this problem by placing 4, 1/4 inch plate washers under the bolt head. This resulted in 1/16 inch clearance between the end of the bolt and the hopper bottom. I hope this will help you to correct these problems. Jim Cahlik ... show more

  • HORRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS AND PRODUCT QUALITY. DON'T BUY!!
complete waste of my time. i am always leery of purchasing a product online I have to assemble and this is the very reason why. my first comment is on the instructions. no text or written description to aid in the process; only pics (see PICS). it took me 90 minutes to get to the final step where the poor quality kicked in. if you observe the pics i've included, you'll see one of the final frame pieces to be installed and attached. the holes to attach it to the frame were not drilled all the way through-only on one side. it took me 90 minutes to get to this point due to the poor instructions and now i'll need to disassemble it to fit it into the box, take it to UPS, and ship it back and wait for my refund. HORRIBLE QUALITY-DO NOT BUY!!!! ... show more

  • Super Spreader......
Unit arrived on time and was a pleasure to assemble. I used the spreader the next day. The lever that open and closes the feed opening was a great asset as you could set it's open and closing to what ever your needs were. Towing the unit with the rider mower was easy as I was able to open and close the spreader on the fly. It was stable and just 100% great to use.... Love it...... ... show more

  • REALLY Disappointed With This Purchase
Anyone who's seen my reviews know I'm a stickler for decent instructions and documentation. So this product had earned THREE stars just from the assembly ordeal. That was before it even hit the turf. It comes with quite substantial spreader settings documentation for fertilizer and seed. But the assembly instructions consisted of a set of pictures for parts and assembly. There were no written directions. There was a scanner symbol on the front page with instructions directing you to a free Showuhow mobile app for further instructions, but I couldn't find the app for my android. I found video instructions online but not at address shown on the outside of the box. It was located here: [...] Since the volume of the video was too low to hear on my phone I did the assembly near a desktop. In the video each part is described by number, but it's not the part number, nor do they match up with the paper illustrations which are labeled with alphabets. Assembly didn't go smoothly even with the video because the parts fitted together poorly, which is why you have to leave the screws loose during assembly, tightening them later. Further the control assembly seemed to be backwards and came apart while trying to attach it. In operation I loaded some bermuda grass "one step complete" seed to spread around where needed. The control assembly was literally INOPERATIVE. I could close the opening with it, but not open it. In fact part of the plastic slide that opens and shuts the bottom of the bin had broken off. As it was totally useless, I had to manually open and close it. All in all, it was an ordeal from assembly to operation. ... show more

  • I would pass
I would pass on this. Mine showed up broken, and is very cheaply made. Molding on transfer case looks like someone melted it together with a crack heads bic lighter.

  • It preformed about like I expected
This speader got the job done. It preformed about like I expected. The only real complaint I have is the assembly instructions. They're just pictures but some of the assembly must be done in a specific order. It is rather cheaply made but for the price it is about what I expected. The rotary spreading mechanism is all plastic. Not sure how long that will last. I purchased the spreader for planting a food plot for deer. I'm pulling behind an ATV so I made some modifications to allow for the rough terrain. The plastic bin is held on by two bolts. I figured all the bouncing would eventually cause the bin to tear off. I added a couple of metal bars about five inches long and ran the bolt through them to allow a greater surface area to hold the bin on. I also gave it a longer axle. I added a total of six inches to make the wheel base three inches wider on each side. The wheels now sit just outside the edge of the bin. This was again to allow for rough terrain. I then added about four feet to the tongue. This just made it easier to keep an eye on while spreading seed and eliminated some of the ATV bounce transferring directly to the spreader. The last thing is to replace the stinking plastic wing nut on the adjuster to a metal one. Not sure why plastic was used. Overall I am pleased and feel I got what I paid for. I had all the materials for the modifications lying around so I'm not sure what it would cost to buy the supplies. I'll post pix of the modifications later. ... show more

  • Made cheap
The feed adjustment is a joke, the thing will tip over on a hillside and I should have known that something this inexpensive wouldn't perform well.
