I have been using these filters for a number of years now. I think ther'e a good deal. The cardboard frame is actually marked with the Merv rating, size, directional arrow and brand. Some of the other brands even the more expensive ones are completely blank. I don't really trust those to be the actual brand or Merv rating that is claimed on their website. This might seem small and unimportant that the cardboard frames are coated with a white slick surface but I have noticed this helps to keep the dust and lint from collecting on the frame itself. It's just a nother small fact in their favor. These filters have a wire mesh backing throughout the entire corrugated filter. The filter corrugation adds stability, strength and increased filtration volume. The cardboard frame is securely glued together on all corners and seams. Some of the other brands have very little adhesive securing cardboard the frames together and easily fall apart during installation or use. I like the fact that the frame is made of a thick and sturdy cardboard. That also helps to keep their shape during installation and use. This brand has a good selection of sizes and Merv ratings in my opinion. My A/C unit has three returns, that consists of two sizes. Which are both on my automatic Amazon subscription. These fit, are a good value, and I have enough now so they are at hand so I can remember to change them out more often. I love the convenience of ordering from Amazon... probably love it tooooo much ;) I love that I don't have to deal with trying to find this size filter in the hardware stores or big box stores, and those stores are way more pricey too. It is impossible to find this particular and unusual size filter locally and the price is great. I've not had any issues with them, the 'easy to install,' issue is with my unit, not the filter. I know they are sturdy because once in a while when I'm removing them the paper rips but the filter itself remains intact. I cut my hand trying to remove one and when I finally got it out the filter was fine. If you need this particular size you can't go wrong. ... show more

After using them for a while, I can state that their filtration powers and ease of use are outstanding; but, there are a few caveats that prohibit me from awarding them a perfect score. The superior filtration performance of Aerostar MERV 8 Pleated Air Filters stands out as a key feature. These filters have a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rating of 8, meaning that they are very efficient at removing particles like dust, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores from the air. People with asthma or allergies will appreciate the improved quality of the indoor air that is produced by this. These filters have an easy installation process. Their standard 16202 measurements are a direct drop-in for most air conditioning furnaces. The filter's surface area is increased by the pleated design, which also strengthens the filter. The filters are sturdy and long-lasting, so they can resist the pressures of constant use. The value of the 6-pack combo really struck me as well. I like the merv 8 for my older Carrier heat pump. It is supposed to be 16x20 but these fit better with less room around the edges for unfiltered air to enter. When the HVAC/mechanical company was doing the maintenance, the coil (looks like a radiator that hot or cold coolant goes through) got dirty with dust, hair and lint and the condensate didn't run down to the tray but instead dripped onto the filter, getting it wet and sagging. That caused more unfiltered air to enter and it was so bad there wasn't much airflow in the system, no AC to speak of. Instead of getting a new heat pump I took a chance and took a shop vac, dry soft paint brush and air hose and very gently cleaned the fins of the coil. Viola, works like new. This is 1/2 inch too long and sticks out a little but as soon as the air flows it's tight up against the frame and with it being wider I don't get nearly as much unfiltered air in the system. I cleaned it this year with both paint brush and foaming coil cleaner. It was pretty good to start and like new after. I'll keep using these slightly oversize air filters. As far as merv 8: "8 is great" is what an HVAC pro told me, especially for older systems ... show more
