I purchased this as a classroom noise management tool. This product requires you to have a wall charger already available. It comes with a very short USB micro cable, which is too short to reach higher places. Pictures make product seem much larger than it is. The alarm system is great. I wish there was a remote so that I could turn off the alarm at a distance instead of having to press a button on the machine. Beware, the calibration devices are significantly more expensive and thus why this product is on the cheaper side. Not very accurate without calibration.

30 dB is really not that low, ambient background noise in a quiet room can easily go lower than that. If you are trying to check the loudness of something like a fan, only going as low as 30 can be an issue. As long as you are checking the loudness of things in a much more moderate level, this works great though. ... show more

    • Good for being cheap. How do you stop it from auto turning off?

There are no instructions. I only managed to set the alarm (which is what I needed) because of online information, but I can't find any method to turn off the auto-off, which is the only thing stopping this from being 5 stars for me.
