I got these because I noticed smells would linger, after cooking or having the door open. I used to get the filtrete 800 I think it was from Walmart and since I have a brand new system, less then 2 yrs old, it kept saying (Nest Learning) that the filter needs to be changed. So, getting these I thought problem solved, wrong, well half solved..the lingering smells are gone and I feel the air quality in the home is such better with these filters, so thank you for that, but... my system tells me they need to be changed 45 days in.. I get 2 each 6 months and my next order isn't due till Sept so I had to go buy a $25 filter to hold me off. - if there is a setting I'm missing on the system, if someone knows let me know but I have to set to remind me each 90 days.. also maybe it senses the dirty filter 45 days in, not sure. Either way, these filters help with air quality and you can breath better as they 'trap' so much more. ... show more

I use these filters in my 20-year-old furnace. They are very well-made, sturdy and out-perform all the others I have tried throughout the years, and all with the convenience of auto-ship! They are kind of expensive, though, but I have not suffered from any kind of allergy symptoms since I started using them. There are a lot of complaints in the realm of air filters that filter out a lot of particulate. The trick is to find one that filters but does not impede the air flow. This filter accomplishes that with a huge pleated surface area in this filter. Yes, you do need to change them every 3 months or you could have air flow issues. Expensive but worth it when you need it. One year during fire season, it looked like night at noon. That is to say that the particulates can get bad here during fire season. We use the MERV-13 but during the worst parts of the fire season, we use these and it works great. I couldn't even go to work one day because I was continuously coughing from the air quality.
