I've been watching hydroponic technology advance with baited breath. I remember when these where 500$ and super sketchy. I was still skeptical buying this garden because of the price. Now its got its own knock off for 60$ Is this worth 179? If you have the extra cash for the major structural differences, user friendly pod kits, and directions hail yes. This garden means the end to food deserts across the country. Whether you can afford the nice one like this or the off brand. Every home should have a hydroponic garden in the next 5 years. Its user friendly- You follow the directions, pop the pods in, follow the prompts. Its small- As you can see, it fits on the end of my dining table. Takes up a cubic foot of space. Why buy only one when you obviously have space for two?? Its good for your mental health. Its good feng shui? Kinda random but yeah, running water and bringing nature indoors. Its a palpable difference in your home. You can grow anything you want in it, just don't overcrowd it though, as you can see in mine and the other reviews the most successful gardens you only use a few pods at a time, that just gives value to the pod kits. one kit will last 2 "seasons" I will say to pay attention to your pods. My pepper pods didn't come with seeds. However thats not a drawback, seed packets cost a dollar at the store. Buy yourself a couple of seed vaults for 30 bucks... and some anything kits, you wont need to shop for vegetables for years. Its really that good. I started using Aerogarden back in 2019. Back then I purchased a Bounty, Harvest, and Sprout. I’m hooked on their products. I’m so sad that they won’t be putting out anything else so I’ve purchased 3 of these Harvest 2.0. I will say this and another reviewer mentioned this too. The lights are wonky. They don’t always follow the schedule. Sometimes I have to turn them on and other times I have to turn them off. I don’t mind since I love in home gardening but if your looking for set it and forget it this newer version may not be for you. Otherwise no noise, easy to use, perfect size for leafy greens, and at this price compared to what I paid for my first systems this is a great value for the money! I took off one star since the directions included with this grower are extensive but not detailed in the sense that it doesn't explain some things I learned after reading Amazon reviews. First of all, the light and pump will not turn on until you put water in it. The steps in the booklet tells you to put water in first, but doesn't tell you if you don't do that first, the light and pump won't go on. It's built with a sensor that tells the pump to run, and if the sensor senses there is no water in the reservoir, it will not turn on and neither will the light. So, for anyone wanting to test the power on the grower to ensure it works before using it, you can't test this item until you put it together and add water to it. Secondly, like another reviewer mentioned, once you have the water in it and plug it in, and when you put the light on its adjustable arm, you have to almost use your fist on the top of the light, and do a quick pound on the top of it to get the entire apparatus to light up and run. Make sure the light and its arm "snap" into place. The only way I could do it was to pound on the top of the light and then the light and pump automagically started up. This kit does not come with seeds. You need to buy your own. I live in Florida and planted partial sun-loving herbs that don't do well in my western exposure yard: thyme, cilantro, dill and parsley. The spearmint is slowly starting to come up and isn't shown in the photo but others are doing well. ... show more
