It's got plenty of room, a carpeted interior and most importantly to me an override key! Never buy anything with a combination lock that doesn't have an override key! Great value for the money!

If I'd ever secured a safe to a wall or floor previously, maybe this would not have been an issue, but I haven't, so I screwed up. The safe came with instructions on how to open it, program it, etc. but not a single word about how to go about mounting it, namely, that you absolutely need to measure the inside to figure out where the pre-drilled holes on the outside line up so that you can cut the carpet (felt, really) inside the safe before you drill it out, because the inside is not marked in any way and is not pre-drilled. Only the outside is pre-drilled. I read a bit online about what to do, so I did cut the inside first, but the material is felt on top of drywall (or plaster board), which is pretty hard to cut cleanly with a razor. I ended up either not cutting in exactly the right spot, or I just didn't get it cut completely through, so when I drilled from the outside, my drill bit caught the fabric and COMPLETELY ripped it off of the floor. Turns out, it was not glued down very securely to begin with, which is a shame because otherwise, it's a really nice safe. I like the look, it's easy to operate, and it feels secure. I'd already drilled the wall and floor, so I ended up keeping it and trying to re-glue down the felt to the floor myself (my artsy wife helped). It came out ok. Also, one of the shelf mounts was broken, but since I didn't really need 2 shelves, I just put the extra shelf on the floor to help cover up my mistake. If this came with more detailed instructions, or if it were pre-drilled or cut or marked in some way inside, I'd easily give this 5 stars, but since it ended up taking me at least 3 times longer than it should have to install and make it look nice again, I have to dock it one star. I love everything else about it though.

The safe met all the things I was looking for - heavy duty, a degree of fire resistance, well constructed and simple to install and use. Instructions were very clear. Safe uses a code of varying length of your choosing and has a way to open it in the event of dead batteries using an external battery. That came in handy for me as I will describe later. It also has back up keys in the event of an emergency. I installed the safe in a cabinet, mounting it with the holes on the base and the back. I'm out of town now but will see if I can add a picture later. The thing that impressed me most was Aegis' responsiveness, customer service and assistance with a problem not of their making. After I opened the impressive, solid shipping box and removed the safe, I put it aside while contractors finished some work in the room where I planned to install it. I took the bag with the keys, instructions and back up battery cable out before I did that and put them aside until I was ready to install. I had not installed batteries in the safe at that point. Unfortunately the contractor may have scooped the bag up with the accessories along with his construction waste. I was not able to open it when I was ready to install it. Aegis walked me through what I needed to do with an external battery bank to open it so I could bolt it down and is sending me replacement keys coded to the lock on the safe. Aegis provided a level of after sale service not always seen these day. Very happy!! John

Wanted a small ammo safe and this did the trick. Good quality construction. It fit a surprisingly good amount of ammo. I was worried that the top shelf would be flimsy because the pictures made it look like they were being help up by 4 tiny screws, but they’re actually screwed into metal anchors and are pretty sturdy. Needed to contact customer service to resolve a mistake with the order (my fault) and they were super responsive and helpful. Mounting instructions are in this product listing online - it would be nice if they’re also included them with the safe, but it’s pretty straight-forward. I recommend this product.

Safe arrived without dents but completely stuck shut. Key could open the locking mechanism (could both hear and feel the lock open) but the door appeared to be pushed in so deeply that it would not open regardless. Attempts to electronically open the lock with the backup power option seemed pointless but I tried anyway and discovered the electronic lock mechanism would take no power from the brick I used (which was fully charged and operational). Glad I decided to set up the safe before my handyman came by to bolt it to the floor, because I would have had to reschedule him. Asking for a second safe to be sent to me.
