I have waited several months to write a review on this pergola / gazebo unit to provide a candid review to help others shopping this type of product. As I researched the purchase I found a huge variety of products and prices, you have to be careful as I found it can be easy to overspend and end up with poor quality. Here we are about 90 days later and can can 100% endorse this product. This Chinese manufacturer, AECOJOY, has a bunch of different sizes available. For our application we needed a 14 x 8 foot unit. You have to completely assemble this product, it is all broken down for shipping and keeping that cost low, so lots of assembly, however good instructions. My observations and tips for perfect / successful installation: * read the assembly instructions SEVERAL times before even beginning * carefully lay out all your parts / pieces and keep it organized to save assembly time and/or frustration * have and use some sort of Loctite on the screws/bolts - it makes for very solid post / beam assembly * use hand tools to tighten nuts / bolts / screws - this will avoid damage to the post / beam / part finished paint surface * absolutely tie / secure this unit to your wall / house for solid weather & wind resistance * assemble with two people so you have four hands when needed * fasten the post to the ground / deck / slab surface in some way - again, resistance against high winds / storms GREAT looking, sturdy, and great value for the product! We have transformed our back deck into an outdoor 'room' by adding this gazebo. Very happy with the product and HIGHLY recommend!!

Got this to go over the back door of the house for water/sun protection. The quality of materials on this is a little better than another unit I purchased, seems to be a nice power coating over all metal bars, even the interior bars that are used to connect 2 longer bars. As it's just 8x8 it doesn't need a lot of support but it doesn't have the cross bracing between front and back. For my purposes it's fine as mounted one side to the house and bolted other side down to concrete but if standing on it's own it may be a little less stable. Packaging was good, came in 2 boxes, 1 fairly heavy box with all the frame and hardware, 1 box of just the panels. The assorted hardware was in various zip lock bags clearly labeled which was perfect, the kit I had of a different make had all the screws in carboard vacuform packs which got messy when one opened during shipping or moving the box around. The screws were also phillips, I'd prefer allen or torx to reduce stripping but they worked ok, don't need high torque but I just prefer the more solid bit type. Also the felt lining of the panel channels did push out on one section when inserting the panel, I don't think it will be too big an issue as it's main purpose is easy of inserting the panel. Otherwise looks good to me, we'll see how it holds up.

So my package arrive with damaged panels. I reached out to the manufacturer and before I could respond to their questions, they already sent me new panels (literally received them in 2 days). It was absolutely amazing service and I just had to come on here and let you know how amazing their service is. It was also free. In terms of the product itself, it’s literally perfect! I live in the desert in a canyon so we get lots of sun and it’s cooler under the awning because the panels are polarizing! It is also VERY sturdy and survived 50-60 miles per hour wind today!!!! It handeled it like a champ! Also just want to say that it was VERY VERY easy to assemble! My husband assembled the frame while I assembled the racks that hold the panels! We finished assembly in 3 hours! We just can’t believe how inexpensive it is, how great the service is, and how heavy duty it is!

To start off I did complete the install and am using this item. I did not return it because that would’ve been a massive headache. We ordered the 12 by 20 foot unit in white. So let’s go. This product’s listed dimensions ARE NOT ACCURATE. I’ve submitted a complaint because it was a huge pain to check the dimensions in advance and then have it be so far off!! The product page lists a height of 96” i.e. 8 feet at the back wall. It is NOT that height, it was over 4 inches over 8 feet, over 100 inches total, which caused it not to fit our deck/roof overhang. Because returning would have been nearly impossible with the packing and weight, I pulled out extra tools and cut the metal posts down 4 inches, which when fully assembled totaled exactly 8 feet. I now have to re-drill the holes for the anchors. If I did not have these tools I would have been forced to return or hire help. The construction is not great. The posts are all split half way and on the final product don’t look great. It’s stable, but not aesthetically pleasing seeing the screws and gap half way up all of the posts. Overall, it is sturdy in the end. But very heavy and somewhat bulky in appearance (hoping that helps with all-season use). This did NOT come with ANY tools. The instructions specifically state to only use the included tools, but there were none in my packaging. I needed a drill, Philips and Allen bits, a wrench (socket and adjustable), a rubber mallet, and a metal cutting saw to meet the actual dimensions needed for my project since it didn’t match the description. There was plenty of hardware (some said their’s was short, mine was not). A note about the assembly. If you’re building in a limited space, you’re going to struggle. I have built a ton of self-assembly and RTA products, this was nightmare level and took several days. I thought I was in the clear getting the frame done….and then the roof panels just about took me OUT. I picked this product to fit a deck space where the depth fit the deck size nearly inch for inch…and because of that I was UNABLE to completely install all parts. To complete this install you must be able to access both the front and the back with a drill and in my case….there was an entire house in the way of the back and no way to move the structure at that point in assembly to get a drill in there. So I have major concerns about heavy weather/snow affecting the roof panels since the wall-side supports can’t be installed. I’m also disappointed in the system for “wall-mounting” as there is very limited option for where the anchoring can be done and in my case doesn’t line up in spots I can drill into, so I’m working on an alternative and adapting to get it secured before the weather turns. In the end, I would NOT recommend and will NOT buy again. I threw in a star because, with it done, it does what I wanted. It provides nice shade and is mostly pretty good looking (but I stare at the ugly posts and have been thinking of ways I can hide the wonky seams, ugh). To those not deterred….good luck!
